your ipod will be fine. it automatically turns off the backlight on the screen when charged. also, you can select disconnect in the itunes library. just click on the arrow pointing up that is on the right of the ipods name. you can also disconnect the cradle from the computer. once you plug an ipod into a computer though, it will not update anything that you add afterwards. if you have no safe, secure, designated places for an ipod, like a speaker, then leaving it at the computer might also be a great place to not lose it or damage it. also, the battery will charge as long as the computer is on (unless the computer is a laptop).

It should be fine. After being connected for a few seconds, the screen should become dim; that helps extend the life.

As long as the backlight dims you'll be fine. I've done that for like a week in a hotel and nothing happened, and then for days at a time in my house.

leaving your ipod on the computer all the time is not a very good idea. you can seriously get addicted to it and thats not good or healthy either. its ok to hear your ipod sometimes when your out on a drive or just hanging out but leaving it on all the time isnt just weird its not normal. :)

I wouldn't. It can burn the LCD screen out, which would be a costly repair.

well i charge mine overnight. works like new. but you probably shouldnt leave it hooked up for weeks or nothing like that. let it charge for as long as your computer is on.
