Witches are those who use specific props and spells to effect the world around them metaphysically. Very often, although not by necessity, this involves invoking other spirits. Wiccans are a specific religion of which the majority of witches claim to be a part. They are committed to doing only "white" magick, or good deeds, although in many cases this involves effecting the free will of others in love spells, among other things. Witches are a sharp contrast to the more chi-based approach common in eastern philosophy. Although there is a lot of overlap in the members, the two philosophies are opposed in many ways in both their methods and their goals.

My daughter is exploring Wicca, and at first I was against it, because I was taught it was "bad" But I have learned to overcome my prejudice and learn about it, and discovered that most witches or wiccans are gentle and peace loving. Many use the seasons and nature to enhance their faith. There is a wide variety of people involved in wicca. The hocus pocus stuff is mostly all fiction. The biggest site is www.wicca.com so if you would like to learn more it would be a good place to start. Hope this helps :)

I don't think they're bad or evil - I used to practice Wicca. They're normal people. Some fit the stereotype of tattoos, black clothes, funky jewelry, stones and all that hubbub. A friend of the family is a witch and he can do some pretty amazing things. I don't necessarily think his gifts are from Wicca or other forms of witchcraft but merely from harnessing the power of the brain.

I see a beautiful young woman with drop-dead red hair and sparkling green eyes. She is the most compassionate person I have ever met, she reads and studies the world around her, and at the drop of a hat is out chasing thunderstorms. She is a brilliant photographer and can capture the inner beauty of whatever she shoots.

I think they dress in black, but I don't feel they have to be green and ugly. Witches who are attractive can get men to fall under their spells easier.

I see a woman or a man who is in touch with Mother Gia and who is more so concerned with the world and the people in their lives.

I think of Women, or more mature teenage girls, performing 'spells' i guess... for well being, or for guidance, or asking for something to happen... usually i'll think of earthy-dressed, usually brown, auburn, or some dark color of hair, MAYBE some freckles... and they would be very in tune with nature and their surroundings.
