With healthcare insurance premiums so high shouldn't we have an option of using hospitals in other countries such as Thailand or India. Couldn't the insurance companies work out a deal to provide their members with better care at a lower price for a lower premium. There is a trend to outsource other forms of goods and services. Why not healthcare.

Someone shoud suggest this to WellPoint, the largest health insurance company.

Make your inquiries to William H.T. (Bucky) Bush. He's on the board of directors there. Maybe he could mention it to his newphew. I know they support outsourcing.

It's still cheaper than U.S. hospitals.

O.K., not for lifethreatening injuries requiring immediate medical treatment.

Just for catastrophic illness's

to Medic: how do you feel about paramedics all becoming Reserve Paramedics. Just working one day a week for $50 a 24 hour shift. That would sure cut down on labor and pension costs wouldn't it?

The problems with healthcare is the insurance company's themselves, we need to take them out of the mix and provide socialized medicine for everybody. Our country and South Africa are the only two countrys that does not have health care for its citizens. It is a shame that a country so rich cannot take care of their own people. Insurance company's are the root of evil as they profit on the miserys of others.

My question would be how realistic is it to outsource healthcare and hospital use. If you were having cardiac arrest, would you want to fly to Thailand or India? Or if you had an emergency, is that realistic? Perhaps we should just reduce the number of lawsuits against doctors, or increase the standards for becoming doctors. After all, lawsuits are a huge reason for rising premiums. Another factor to consider is to adopt socialist policies for healthcare, like Canada or the UK. Do we want to make healthcare public or keep it privatized? That's the real question. Outsourcing seems unrealistic.

I don't think my helicopter has a long enough range to respond to your SUV rollover from India.

To answer your second question:
Paramedics are among the lowest paid highly skilled employees in healthcare, I thought I already was getting $50/day for a 24 hour shift. Fortunately it's not my primary source of income so feel free to outsource whatever you like. Just know that when your leg is where your head should be and vice versa, I dole out the pain meds commensurate to my pay! (Haha, I wish)

According to me outsourcing healthcare services helps organizations:

Earn Maximum profit margin at a minimal cost - Outsourcing healthcare services like medical coding, medical animation, medical transcription, claims adjudication and medical illustration can prove to be extremely beneficial for your hospital, as you can save a whopping 60% on your current cost.

Make huge savings on your capital expenditure - Cost is not the only thing that you can save on by outsourcing healthcare services. You can also save on time, manpower and healthcare infrastructure. You would also not have to invest on expensive healthcare software and technology. Your hospital or clinic can concentrate on patient care and leave out worries regarding the management of healthcare staff and compliance with BPOs.

Get your work completed ahead of schedule - When you outsource, you can be sure of all your medical billing, medical coding, claims adjudication and medical transcription work getting completed within 24 hours.

Better business performance - By outsourcing all your non-core healthcare work, you will be able to drastically improve your level of productivity and profits. Outsourcing can also boost your hospital’s business value and give you an edge over your competitors.

Well, Currently almost everything is getting outsourced in developing economies like India and Philippines. In particular Healthcare, everyone is shifting to outsourcing because Physicians have to keep EHR for 7 years which is pretty much hectic task.

There are many companies like http://www.clinicspectrum.com and http://www.digidms.com who make the healthcare outsourcing process seamless by providing quality standard products and services.

The main reason I think is improvement is work ethics and attitude towards USA base clientele. These companies have been working in the same field since 14-15 years so they have gained experience in working pattern and solving problems with USA based medical insurance companies. Moreover, these companies have started providing other related services which make a Doctor's life much easier. Those services are : Account Receivable Follow Ups, Scanning and Indexing Medical Documents, Appointment Scheduling, Eligibility Out of network Checking, Payment Posting, Demographics and Claims Entry, Credentialing and Medical Transcription Services.

All above mentioned services are currently outsourced to http://www.clinicspectrum.com and alike companies including Message Spectrum , which makes medical communication automated. It is revolutionary product for all physicians practicing in Developed countries like USA.

We do need an overhaul, but not in India or Pakistan. Our Politician need to hear that we the People want Changes in healthcare, maybe if we tell them to watch the next Election if they dont do something NOW. I know, they dont care because they and theirs are taking care off for the Rest of their Lives.

Are you suggesting we fly to Thailand or India to get healthcare when we are sick?????

That wouldn't work out too well in case of any type of life-threatening situation.

The root cause of sky-rocketing health care costs are irresponsible lawsuits. Two words: Tort Reform.

Two more: loser pays.

Oh wait, here is three more: Kill the lawyers.
