As odd as this may seem, the Kroger near me has a bunch of the brands you could find at Target and drug stores, but they are a little cheaper. They usually have one brand at 30-50% off around once or twice a month, so I have gotten somewhat expensive (15 for a small bottle at a drug store) foundation for around $7. I would spend most on the items where the cheaper brands are obviously low quality (foundation, eyeliner, eyeshadow), but I can use cheap blushes, mascara, and store brand make up brushes and not see a difference. My favorite mascara I got for $4 in a sale bin at target, and it works better than the clinique stuff. Try some of the less expensive or sale stuff, and you may be surprised.

Try e.l.f. for lipgloss it's not bad, just don't get the ones with the brush applicator as it falls out. Also Jordana sold at Walgreens is pretty good. My favorites though are Maybelline's shinylicious & Sally Hansens new lip plumper in the tube (the lipinflation is good too). Sephora's brand is still kind of spendy IMO & it's no better than the ones I just listed. Hope this helps.:)

You might want to try ULTA when they have a coupon in the Sunday paper. The ULTA brands are really good. Sometimes they are 3 for $10, if that's not too much for you. Was just at Sephora today, and thought their prices were higher than ULTA.
Otherwise, someone said the DOLLAR STORE. My daughter has tons of makeup she bought and hates...maybe your friends may want to give away the makeup they don't like untill you get on your feet.
Good luck!

You can try Jordana, Prestige, Milani, or Wet N Wild. They are a budget price and work pretty good. Depending on where you go, Jordana's eyeliners are about a dollar, Prestige about three dollars(unless you find a sale), Milani about the same, and Wet N Wild under a dollar. Harmon Discount sells these products and have monthly specials on their makeup(varies from month to month). You have to go there to get a flyer for the coupons. Their web site is www.harmondiscount.com

Seriously - the Dollar Store! I wouldn't get my foundation, powder or concealer there, but the Dollar Store has eye shadow, lip gloss, lipstick, & make-up pencils.
Pretty decent stuff, too!

Usually I go to a drug store, but most times I buy some stuff at macy's mostly for skin care. I also go to Sephora since I can sample some make-up and they have many good things.

i use the sephora store brand for foundation but thats even like 20 dollars, i think theres foundations cheaper at drug stores but watch out, they might clog pores cause everytime i use drugstore foundations my face breaks out completley. the rest of my makeup like eyeliner and mascara and such i just get at drugstores, there all the same theres no need to buy fancy 30 dollar eyeliners

Dollar General-- I got eyeliner for $1, foundation for $2, mascara for $1.50, and eyeshadow for $1.50. I also got many compliments on how well all of it brought my eyes out-- and everyone swore it was all brand name stuff.
