Absolutely unequivocably agreed!!!

Let children be children for as long as they can be. We have taken so much away from our little ones, forcing them to grow up, be mature, be smarter and prettier than the next child. It teaches them bad values. It is even worse for the children that don't win. It devalues them as human beings and makes them feel that they are never perfect or good enough. How vile is that??

Parents who put their children into beauty pagents should be banned from parenting.

Child beauty pageants are not to blame, - they are merely just another symptom of our society's pathological hedonism: DECADENCE.

No child is harmed by pageantry alone; every proud parent who has a portrait taken of their child does so for, among other things,...the purpose of displaying their child.

What I feel truly harms a child is the undue pressure of 'performance' but, even then, the only parents who take this to a detrimental level are those selfish enough to want to live vicariously through the 'successes' of their children --- in other words, - BAD parenting; isn't it a damn shame that we cannot outlaw THAT!

No. but I don't believe in a child being allowed to wear makeup in a pageant. some allow it and others don't. There are pros and cons to the industry and it all depends on how it is run by the individual pageant agency and the parents. Pageant moms are often the root of all the evil.

Well the kids don't seem to be having a good time and it does seem perverted to doll up little girls in such a way. I don't like it that's for sure. I guess it should be investigated, after what happened to that poor child I would think the'd want to wind it down a tad. I don't know what the idea is in terms of benefitting these kids, what do they get out of it? The whole thing seems ....well creepy. Kids should be kids, till they aren't anymore. Why steal that from them is my thinking. I don't know anyone who would do this to their child, so I find it odd. I would like to read a Mothers opinion, they seem to be more connected to this sort of thing. I'll look back later and maybe there will be one expressing a thought on the subject.

Ugh. I've had the advent of talking to a mother who put her child in pageants many times in the past. It made me see some new things, but I still think that child beauty pageants aren't anything helpful to the wholesome development of a child.

All it serves is to ignite a parent's sense of pride in their child when they come around the stage prancing about like (as someone said) a preemie hooker. Sure, many of them "turn out" to be intelligent later on in life, but to be branded as a "pageant princess" is pretty much frowned upon by modern society because the standards for child "beauty" are not only set too high by the bastards who run the pageants, but child beauty is different by everyone's standards. A mother can think that her child is the most beautiful and precious thing on the face of the earth, while a passer-by can exclaim, "Goddamn! That's one ugly baby! Watch out, lady! You can put an eye out with that thing!"

In my opinion (which happens to be of the majority), I don't think that a little 5 year-old girl (who looks like a 35 year-old PROSTITUTE is NOT pretty at ALL. In fact, I'd rather vomit than look at her. I don't see prettiness or beauty. I don't even see the makeup on her face. I see the shame inside- a shame waiting to fully express itself later on in life...

I don't think they should be fully outlawed because parents won't stop at that... The government is already WAY too involved in our lives, but by placing stiff entrance fees and small prizes, it might quickly die out. The point is to encourage parents to NOT follow this behavior. It only creates more molestors out there...

If this doesn't help, by all means BAN it. I hate it and I don't want to see more children end up being either sexually abused (by sex-offenders or perverts) or emotionally abused by their parents. I mean, honestly... if you think JonBenet Ramsey was a "beautiful young lady," I'd have to fight the intense urge to slap you. She wasn't beautiful OR A YOUNG GODDAMN LADY! She was a little girl who was whored-up on makeup. What the hell's "pretty" about that? NOTHING!

If you dress up a tiny girl to look like an adult, then you can't be surprised when men want to treat them like adults. In the most damaging way possible.

It's very upsetting that we want to make children look like adults to find value in them. I think the child pageants are dangerous and repulsive.

Yes, they need to go. With all these pageants, these kids are being taught that outer beauty is more important than inner beauty. They may not even try in school if they continue in these pageants. They egos may get out of control and act snobbish towards others. They are not just being taught what is important.

Pedophiles love them-the pageants because of the children. Even if they were outlawed there are too many vain parents out there, so I am sure it would go "underground".

I think if they're going to be around, then they need to be the kid's choice if they want to be in one or not, and non-competitive. Of course, there's always going to be some gung-ho overly-competitive parent who's going to take it to far, but you're going to find them in any sport or hobby/competition for kids, so I don't know if it could be done. We can hope, though.
