Africans in America, and African Americans, and Black people why do we all seemingly have issues with one another? Why does it seem like we don't like one another? Why do African people seem to segregate themselves even from Black Americans? And why do black Americans feel it necessary to demean everyone, including Africans? Whats up with this hate within the ethnicity?

I think that one person wants to feel better than the other. I think since there is racism agisnt both comunities, that each side wants to take apart of it.

Also, I think some Africans may resent the fact that African Americas get to live in America, and not have to worry about the future of Africa. I think that African Americans might resent the fact (subconsily) that they are not as much of apart of Africa and the culture.

I think that groups not getting along, no matter who they are, is pointless and unnessicary.

It's not just Black folks. All people like to fight with each other.

As a species we commit more time and money trying to kill each other than we do practically anything else. We have children so we can prepare them to go fight with someone else. How else can anyone explain the continuous war in all of written human history.

The human race has never, ever, not had a combat situation occurring in the entire time of recorded history. There is always a skirmish, battle, war, verbal fight. The only thing that seems to change is the scale. It could be millions of people trying to harm each other or it could be two.

That's really all it takes. Another person. The reason could be anything and usually is "anything". Nose is too big, toes are too small, they have a strange looking back molar...as I said. Anything.

You can label the entire human race with this one sentence. Peace is the imaginary interval between ignored continuous conflict.

I think it's the same in every ethnic group. South Americans look down on Mexicans, Puerto Ricans and Dominicans but they're all Hispanic. Chinese and Koreans don't like the Japanese. A couple of generations ago, it was the Italians in America who were put down by the largely German settlers. And the Irish had their turn. It's human nature and it's all over the world.

I feel that culturally we are so far from africans, dont you ever wonder why they succeed when they come over here in little to no time, its because they had to struggle a lot harder than we do. They dont have a welfare system like ours. Ours is to set you up for failure, SO YOU CAN NOT ACHIEVE YOUR DREAM, they give you a couple of bucks and tell you, you have section 8 so you must remain in certian parts of the city, just to keep the cheap rent, people settle for a torn up, gang and drug infested NEIGHBORHOOD, that they raise their kids in to become a product of that crazy enviorment, they tell you, you can only make so much, what kind of crap is that??? Instead of asking WHY?YOU SHOULD BE THINKING OF WHAT CAN YOU DO TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM?

I'm 16 and black and I feel the same way! I'm not afraid to admit but even I'm afraid of hanging around with a lot of black people just because black girls my age like to start caddy fights just to make them look popular and make you feel less than they are! They are not used to seeing blcak people to get ahead because our history and where we come from! I'm not from the ghetto so I don't talk ghetto and a lot of black girls at my school don't like me just because I don't talk ghetto like they or dress like they do! if you're not from the ghetto don't talkk like you are from the ghetto because it's fake and it's wrong! Even girls my age get mad because I make good grades and they always think I act white! it's heart-piercing to hear that from someone your color you know! We like to step on one another because we choose to get ahead and try to be something in life! It's almost like we're competing against one another for no reason! You should be greatful that your black brother or sister are trying to get ahead and be great in life!

This is a complex question and there is no one answer. I do think Black people judge one another so harshly because as a people other races judge ALL of us by the worst of our race. If you think about it, uneducated, ghetto, criminal, violent blacks, along with rappers, athletes and entertainers are the ones who are seen over and over again on the news, in the media, in films. This has served to stereotype us and other races judge us based on these images. There is a whole segment of black people - your normal, everyday, working, blue collar folks, like postal workers, government workers, factory workers, and also corporate black folks as well as doctors, lawyers, professors who are INVISIBLE it seems. These groups of people, the normal everyday law-abiding folks are the ones who become resentful of the ignorant ghetto dwellers, drug dealers and criminals because they serve to bring our communities down so much.

After traveling to Africa I realized that many Africans either look down on American blacks because they too judge us by the negative stereotypes and they do not understand how anyone living in America could possibly not take advantage of all of the opportunities offered to us here. Many of them who do make it here have come from places in Africa where life is really tough and they've had to struggle through all kinds of hardships, so they look at the uneducated, ignorant, illiterate blacks on welfare who aren't doing anything to improve their lives as stupid and lazy.

This attitude that many Africans have toward ignorant and uneducated blacks often extends to those of us who are actually educated and successful - an unspoken condescension.

It's sad really, but when you think about it why should we even expect that someone of the same race will automatically treat us with kindness? It all goes back to how an individual sees the world and what he/she has been taught about how to treat people. I grew up with the golden rule - something that is timeless and was taught to me by my grandfather 47 years ago: Treat others as you would like to be treated.

I've heard about this thing going on but never actually believed or encountered it.

It is strange, considering the fact that we are all from the same place, one skin and one race

STOP THE HATING PEOPLE
