You may have torn your medial ligament..or cartilidge...if it is not getting better see your Dr..as it may need to be removed..is only a small keyhole operation, but you need exercise AFTER the surgery to strengthen your knee and surrounding muscles again. You may also find that you will be resticted in doing some sport for a while

It is not uncommon for the cartilage of the knee to be displaced. sufficiently to cause distress when placed in certain positons. There would be tenderness either on the inside of the knee or conversely, on the outside. Can be checked when moving the foot back and forth and placing the fingers on the joint. You can squeeze both sides with your thumb and little finger. If that is the problem, can be easily reduced.

It could be that the impact of the door pushed the patella(knee cap) against your femoral condyle(knee cap groove) so forcefully that it tore some cartilage along the way. This may cause some sort of locking feeling and pain. The swelling will also tighten your knee joint causing less flexibility.

Arthritis also could have developed in which case if you start taking glucosamine chondroiton it should get a lot better. Arthritis knows no age, thats what they told me when i was 16...
