I love BareMinerals, but it is kinda difficult when you first start using it. You're not going to look like the girls on the commercial on your 1st attempt. Before you go to all the expense of buying the "real" thing, might I suggest trying a mineral make-up you can find on ebay. There's an ebaystore "Smoky Mountain Minerals" and they have really quality products for a very reasonable price. And they sell samples.
One thing I have noticed though, is that natural bristle brushes are a must. They synthetic brushes just don't seem to "hold" the minerals as well as the real hair. Hope this helps.

Go with Medium Beige and get a Medium Tan to mix a little in, if you need more colour. Bare Minerals is very blendable and if you have a skintone that is hard to match, (I do) it is easy to mix shades to get exactly what you need.

Bare Minerals gives a natural luminosity, but it is not shiny, IMO. And Mineral Veil takes down the gloweyness. But still leaves your skin looking fresh and beautiful.

I have mild acne and post-anne discolouration scarring, as well as some hyperpigmentation and Bare Minerals covers all of it. And still looks light and fresh, not like a heavy, cakey mask.

A couple of suggestions. Get Summer Bisque. It is a fabulous concealer! You can use it for dark circles, spot covering and to cover larger areas. Use a little under your foundation, then over it, if needed.

Buy a product called Well Rested. It is wonderful!! I can't live without it! It is great around your eyes, but it also works great for skin discolourations on your face. After Summer Bisque and foundation, I use some Well Rested in the areas I always used to need a LOT of foundation. Now, I use much less foundation and have an even more flawless look. Enjoy your new makeup. It really is fantastic stuff. I havn't used anything else in about six years. And I never will.

Remember, Bare Minerals has a learning curve. You will have to practice and play with it to get the hang of it. Have the gal at Ulta demo it and give you a tutorial.

I never really used foundation until I tried bare minerals. The other foundations made my face feel gross and they clogged my pores. Medium tan may be too tan for you so try getting the lighter starter kit because you can always add warmth to make it darker. If I were you, I would go to everydayminerals.com and get free samples to see which shade matches you. They are similar to bare minerals (and cheaper!) but bare minerals is better in my opinion. Don't waste money on the starter kit yet! Try out samples first.. or go to Sephora, they'll help you find the right shade! If you ever need to buy more foundation, go to ebay, you'll save lots of $$!!! Good luck to you!

I love Bare Minerals! I don't think it look shiny, it just doesn't look matte like some makeups. I think it gives my skin a radiant kind of sheen. I also have acne, and I love Bare Minerals for that. I actually have less acne now that I use it! I never realized before how much my makeup contributed to my breakouts.

As to what shade to get, I'm not sure because I can't see you. Ulta doesn't have samples so you can try a little on? I got mine at Sephora so I was able to match it up before I bought anything...

I went to a salon that sold bare minerals and got a makeover (free). That way I could see how it looked on my skin and get an idea of whether I could actually apply it like the technician did. The next day (after I had an opportunity to see the results over several hours) I went back to the salon and bought the kit. I really love it, but don't think I would have learned to apply it without having had the makeover first.

I loved bare minerals! It doesn't have the best coverage ever, but if you use a small brush on the blemishes; it's okay. The finishing powder takes away the shiney look.
It was all natural, and I loved it because it didn't make my face break out.
It did take me a little bit longer to use it than regular make-up, and took some practice to get it right.
However, they told me at Ulta that I could bring it back if I didn't like it. That may have just been that store, though.
I thought it was worth the money!

Bare Minerals is not as easy to apply as it looks in the commercial. If you have the opportunity to try it out first, I really suggest you do. It costs a lot of money for the starter kit, and it would be a bummer if you got it home and decided it wan't for you. I know a lot of people like it (or say they do), but I didn't. It came off too easily throught the day, and while I have really good skin, I never had the smooth finished look I desired.

I love Bare Minerals! Match your skin tone as you would with any other foundation. It'll cover the pimples, and any other issues you may have. Start out with a light application and make sure you buff it well to blend it, then if you need more use the concealer brush for those 'trouble spots' and buff, buff, buff.
Make sure to watch the DVD it'll help with how much of it you'll need to get the look you want.
I wear Fair and it covers the dark circles under my eyes and the broken capillaries around my nose and on my cheeks. It won't clog your pores either.
Good luck and have fun!!

I LOVE bare minerals (but Sheer Cover is cheaper.) Neither one looks shiney, and both cover well. I'd start out with a medium kit, the light kit is for those who have very very pale skin.
