I did night shift at a gas station a few summers ago. I have not worked at Walmart, but I don't think that it would be that bad for a student job. If you are asking if I would make a career out of either one, the answer is a BIG NO. I have plans and goals (such as taking the foreign service exam after I graduate). They are great jobs for some experience and help you get money for the time, but it is not something that I would want to do all my life.

both jobs probably suck. no respect at the gas station at all. and walmart wont give you full time hours so they dont give you any benifits. The gas station 4 sure doesnt have any. If I was forced to choose I would choose Wally-Word. But I would hold out for A real job with benifits and a futer. Both of the ones you asked about dont sound very good.

I've worked at gas stations and I've managed two. The customers always act like it's your fault the prices are up and when you have to ask for them to prepay because of drive offs, they throw the money and credit cards in your face. Plus, I got robbed at the last store I managed.
I haven't worked at Wal-Mart, but I did work at Target. I imagine it's just about the same. I had to zone large sections of the store and the customers seemed to love going along behind me undoing all my work. My daughter works at Wal-Mart and she seems to like it.
There's good and bad in any job. All in all I'd say I would rather do what I'm doing now. Taking care of elderly folks. They can be fun except for the crazy ones. I did get chased around a living room by an old lady swinging a broom stick!

I use to work at a gas station and would rather work there unless at walmart I'm just putting stuff on shelves or cleaning.

At a gas station you get less customers, so less rude people. You usualy work alone so don;t have to deal with co workers you won't like. Plus they usualy pay alittle more.

the job still sucks though

I'd like to work in a gas station/garage about 30 years ago, when cars weren't computers on wheels. The radio would be on blaring CCR or Janis Joplin in the background, and the whole place would smell like oil and grease. I'd know most of my customers by name and we wouldn't offer things like free coffee and yuppie newspapers because they knew it would take half the day to fix the problem and they could just walk over to a diner or something.

Cars were fixed with tools, not diagnostic equipment that costs more than my house and you didn't need an engineering degree to change a tire on a foreign model.
