If you are talking about a fight between a tiger and a lioness...you are right. However, this is not the case when you consider a lion(male). Lions are very much bigger and stronger than a lioness and almost doubles up when it comes to wieght. A tiger on the other hand will be much lenghtier but its shoulder lenght is less than that of a Lion (If you have any doubt about this, contact me for pictures). Remember...a Tiger's fastest speed will not be more than 55 kmph. It relies solely on the 'surprise factor' for its hunting and the most important thing for it will be its leap. So a Tigers will have a superior pair of hind legs for its leap. On the other hand, the Lions have a good shoulder lenght and their fore legs are of awesome strength. This is more significant when they are fighting and not hunting! Don't doubt about the power of a Tiger. But you also can't miss the advantages a Lion will have because of its mane! A Tiger wont be able to complete its customary 'wind pipe block' till death so easily because of the mane! The lion versus lion fight would have taught the lions to overcome this. But tigers will have no such practices. They will be mesmerised when they encounter a lion. And factually, tigers are solitary animals and usually will have to starve if they get injured in a fight. So, they hate to fight without a worthy reason. But a lion will have its pride to depend on if at all it gets injured! All these factors will force us to conclude that the lion will remain 'The King of the Forest'. I agree that the tigers are the most ferocious ones but hunting is completely different from fighting! We should not get confused between these two different forms of war! And , as an extra information, the possibility of an encounter is possible only in Gir forrest of India or in a zoo. In zoos, many lions and tigers are living together and have even bred! You can mail me if you want the picture of them mating! Now, I'm in real need of 10 points. I think I have worked for it!

The Lion would probably win if they were playing Texas Hold'em.
However, at Black-Jack the Tiger wins hands down, every one know a Lions can't add well.
They have too much pride to admit it.
The Fact that Tigers are only found in Asia and India, and Lions are found in Africa makes a meeting in the wild a very improbable occurrence. So the most likely meeting would be at a Zoo or in Las Vegas at a Poker Tournament.

Actually, a show was done on that very topic. The lion finally won out because the lion is accustomed to hunting much larger prey than the tiger. So, in a face-to-face, the lion would be in a better position.

A tiger is by nature a solitary creature. A lion is part of a pride, which has power struggles. This would be especially true for the alpha male who has to keep their pride in line.

As a result, the lion is probably more aggressive and more combat hardened.

Unless the tiger is protecting babies or something, it would probably run away first.

I think that the tiger would win as it probably is larger, but if the lion was a standard lion the pride wouldn't be too far behind.

lets face it, a lion is simply superior, i ve watched vids of these bad animals fight and some tha claim tigers win do not show the fight to the end. lions have courage and in their nature do not back down, so when they fight unless intercepted by humans its to the end, they can only be defeated after they are dea. which is not the case with the tiger as it lacks stamina for it.

i ve read people mention that tigers have more muscle composure than lions, are you kidding me, can you differentiate between muscle and fat?
any body with eyes can see the lions muscles are well defined than the tigers .

i know the fight will be fierce and the lion will definitely get a beating he won t shake off easily, but he will win, that i assure you. and he would still face another tiger if need be. he just doen t retreat, you can call it pride, courage, strength, etc just know thats just who he is, KING OF THE JUNGLE, KING OF THE BEASTS. I rest my case

I believe a tiger would... the lion usually doesn't do the hunting, it's the lionesses. A tiger is used to solo hunting, stealth when necessary, speed and agility and ferocity when called for. The lion does have more body mass, usually, but I don't think that would be enough most of the time.

The Tiger would win. The Tiger is fiercer and male lions are extremely lazy, they make the females do all the work, much like males of another species.

It depends very much on the health of the individuals and also factors, like weight, agility, strength..... rather than ferocious.

In this case, the tiger has a size and weight advantage than the lion.
