The New 'Seven Travel Wonders of the World'
--As determined by the votes of over 60,000 seasoned world travelers
CHICAGO, January 28, 2002- iExplore announced today a newly defined list of the "Seven Travel Wonders of the World." The list is a result of an online poll of over 60,000 seasoned world travelers.

Out of the original Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, only the Great Pyramid of Egypt remains. The Great Pyramid topped this new list of Travel Wonders; ranked in order of votes received:

The Great Pyramid, Egypt
The Great Wall, China
Grand Canyon, Arizona, U.S.A.
Great Barrier Reef, Australia
Machu Picchu, Peru
Victoria Falls, Zambia/Zimbabwe
Taj Mahal, India
The earliest known list of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World was compiled around the second century B.C.. That list included: (1) the Great Pyramid of Egypt; (2) the Hanging Gardens of Babylon; (3) the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus; (4) the Statue of Zeus at Olympia; (5) the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus; (6) the Colossus of Rhodes; and (7) the Lighthouse of Alexandria.

"These Seven Travel Wonders of the World have stood the test of time and will continue to awe and inspire travelers for centuries to come" said George Deeb, Founder and CEO of iExplore. "It doesn't surprise us at all that the Great Pyramid made the top of the list. Historically, Egypt has always been a top-selling destination in our industry."

The eight runner-ups that were also in consideration for the list travel wonders, included (in order of votes received): Mount Everest, Nepal; Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska; The Galapagos Islands, Ecuador; Angkor Wat, Cambodia; Petra, Jordan; The Great Migration, Tanzania/Kenya; Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania; and Tikal, Guatemala.
