Say what you want but to wrongs don't make a right.
Someone should only be accepted into a colledge based on his skills and not on his race.
Do you agree?

Affirmative Action is a type of reparation paid to the African Americans of this country (mostly) for the centuries of slavery and then decades of abuse that were dealt them after slavery due to unfair laws which did not allow them real full fledged citizenship

This country was built on the back of the slaves and I think it is fair that they be paid back until they can gain an equal standing with white Americans. Its a type of justice.
until then, affirmative action is the right thing to do

I have some friends that are black and I talk to them about everything but we don't always agree on this subject. I personally feel that what was done in the past is past all the people that were in slavery and the ones putting them there have long since died off the only way to get past the discrimination is to let it go on both sides ( I know easier said than done ) But bottom line as for colleges or jobs whoever the BEST QUALIFIED is black or white or muslem or gay let them have the job or placment in college . How does prefered treatmant help right a wrong like slavery

Affirmative action was implemented with the intention of artificially creating a black middle class, which would theoretically prevent American society from sliding back into institutional racism against blacks, by empowering blacks to defend themselves from such persecution.

The problem is that the courts should have limited affirmative action to be eliminated after it achieved some measurable goals. Instead it was established with no end in sight, and has become yet another example of the stupidity, selfishness, and failure of American politicians to resolve what should be straitforward issues.

opposite discrimination isn't precisely opposite racism. there is not any longer hate in touch. basically discriminating between who get something and who would not based upon desire and the 'primary reliable'. the actual question that must be asked is "How far are we going to bypass to guard the cost of persons?" it extremely is, even with each and everything, the priority. specific pastime communities turn it right into a black/white/in spite of factor whilst the actual concern is one in all each and every persons suitable to the comparable high quality of public provider as one yet another individual. the place it gets high priced is as quickly as we try to grant everybody with 'the final' even whilst basically 'reliable sufficient' will do. lots of the human beings we deliver to college do no longer desire nor should bypass, black or white. the priority is that whites can greater have the money for it and so, the customary public finally ends up offering a disproportionate provider to them than to blacks. skills for jobs, etc., does no longer be various a topic if the cost of the roles wasn't so overinflated by utilising a consumerist society generating and residing previous their ability plenty that we expect of everybody could have a college degree, a mercedes, and their very own MRI gadget to look at each and every ailment. as quickly as we start to nicely actual worth the undemanding individual, the easy desires, and decrease what number folk there are in this international, then we would be waiting to straighten out a number of those problems. as long as we live some fantasy of opposition and acquisition, we can not handle all and sundry the two without dropping the contest.

I'm not a big fan of affirmative action. I think our system is just at a loss at how to solve the issue of prejudice in the work place. As a woman I'd find it insulting to be hired just to meet the quota but it would be better to be insulted than to be poor and homeless because some white guy got the job instead of me. Affirmative action is a flawed response to our f*cked up, prejudiced white man society.

Affirmative Action was a necessary step in the fight against racism and unjust discrimination. However, it should have been revised and diversified to meet the challenge of continued racism and hatred resulting inequalities in all aspects of our society. Racism has evolved and continued to plague us. We even allowed establish Groups and Organizations( Skinheads, Neo-Nazis, National Alliance, CCC, KKK, Dirty Whiteboys, SAW, Sons of Confederate Veterans, etc.) to exist who's primary goals are to spread Racial hatred and divisiveness, which is in total opposition of true Freedom and Democracy, the very values that have made this country great. We need tougher Hate-Crimes Laws! Most people haven't even taken time to try and understand how Affirmative Action really works, and yet they side with those who say that it is discriminatory, but can't explain how. It was instituted to correct discrimination, not perpetuate it. People need to wake up, and play fair...
