Well, when I broke my elbow, it hurt very badly for about a week. Then the pain became less noticeable, but it could give me pain from time to time for about a year. After that I sometimes notice it hurts before it rains (bonus! you become a barometer). It was healed in about 2 months, although it took about a year before I really felt confident doing activities where I had to rely on it, like body-surfing...
Hope you feel better soon.

I broke my left upper arm (the humerus) 10 1\2 months ago and have gone thru one surgery to fix the "mess" that was created with the soft tissue ( the bicep tendon had to be removed) and will go thru another surgery after the first of the year to clear out all of the scar tissue that has reoccurred. I have seen 3 doctors, had an MRI, 3 cortisone shots, and I still can't sleep on it or raise it all the way up. In my situation, I don't think my shoulder/arm will ever be the same as it was. Pain? Yes, I have pain every single day, but some days it's tolerable, some days it's not. I just take it easy and don't lift anything heavy or try to stretch it upwards if I don't have to. I went thru 15 weeks of physical therapy, 2 and 3 times a week and it did ABSOLUTELY NO GOOD. I got good range of motion back, but the pain is still there. My heart goes out to you on this. One of my doctors told me......"The shoulder is the most flexible joint in the body, as it allows you to move it upward, downward, forward and backward. But because it is the most flexible, it is the most unforgiving joint in the body when injured and the longest and hardest to heal." He was not kidding. Keep a lot of ice and heating pads around and lots of pain medicine if possible. Best of luck to you.
