We just moved into a house that has a septic tank. I dont know what size the tank is. Can anyone give a rough estimate on how much it would cost to have it emptied?

To get a septic tank emptied it is usually around 100.00 more or less. 60.00 to 150.00. The tanks are usually about 1,000 gals.
It is best that you put yeast in your toilet and flush it. The yeast will help keep the tiles and the tank free of solid waste. The yeast will disolve the solids.
A septic tank should be pumped every two years for best results.

An average septic tank in Michigan can be pumped for about $70. The septic guy will come out and tell you if it is needed.
Try not to put too many poisons, grease, bleach etc. A septic field is a living system which you can kill.

You can call companies for estimates, plus you should put yeast tablets down your toilet every once in awhile to keep it from being emptied so much.

It really depends on the size (most are 1000 gallons), the location of the outlet and where you live--
in Reno, NV, its about $500.
