Of course they would prefer to be left alone, but with so many housing developments moving into wild habitats, they have adapted to living right alongside of humans.

It likes dark sheltered places and can stand more
dryness than many spiders. Outdoors it is likely
to be found under rocks, in woodpiles and similar
places. Indoors, where they are often found, they
go for dark places like closets, under or among
boxes that are rarely moved, in corners, etc. The
males wander around and may turn up in bathtubs
or elsewhere.
The effect of the bite is highly variable, but it is
rarely if ever fatal. Its effect is usually much
exaggerated, and many other things have often
been misidentified as brown recluse bites.
See the reference below. It lists over 30 other
conditions that can be confused with recluse bite.

They can be almost anywhere. I found one on the tile floor of my downstairs bathroom about a year ago. If you live in the U.S. you should always spray for insects regularly from spring through Fall and even in winter where it does not freeze. You can look on line at google images and see what they look like.

That brown spider can kill you.
They found two of them in my buddy's backyard when performing pesticide control for carpenter ants.
You see, the venom in the that spider turns your flesh onto soup. And it spreads.
Take a look at one tiny spider bite can do to you...

They are often found hanging out around wood. Fire wood piles, lumber yards and construction sites are common hang outs for the "fiddle back".
