Men and women are already, and have always been, equal. They are like ying and yang, maculine and feminine complimenting one another other. It is modern society that tends to favour the maculine over the feminine... creating this idea of superiority on the masculine side, which in reality doesn't exist. It wasn't always the case that men were viewed as superior to women... pagans compared the earth to a mother, and worshipped goddesses as much as gods, and probably even moreso. However, the Catholic church came into existence and destroyed the balance that existed at the time, and hence, today we generally have only one masculine god. For goodness sake, women are even blamed for original sin, and it is maintained that god fashioned Eve from Adam's rib. Talk about a put-down. Anyway, I think I may have rambled. To answer your question, I think that women will only be viewed as equal to men when religions like Christianity either die out or evolve enough to recognize the serious role that women fill as members of humanity.

Unfortunately, the truth is this is a world run by men. Women, though occasionally (in other countries) are elected to pose as rulers, we truly are not in charge. As long as women are forced to take maternity leave, we cannot be considered equals to men who are given the option of taking paternity leave, or leaving it all together.
In Heaven, women rule, since we know that God is a woman, (after all why else would we be chosen to be the vessel which like God, brings forth life?)
Unfortunately... no, men and women can only be equal in Hell. Hell for both sexes.

I agree with Common Sense, men and women will always be different, but hopefully someday they will be equal, I'm tired of my friends (the girl ones) using that same old "Its cuz I'm a girl right?" thing, when thats not even on my mind.

Yes, Tomodachi, yes. We will be equals one day. We will live in a wonderful world of harmony and mutual respect. We will be free and unashamed of our physical bodies. We will not be burdened by outdated religious and cultural expectations. We will create a new world where men and women can concentrate on perfecting themselves within while having fun in the process. I hope you believe me. You are the kind of man I would want to share this new community with a great girl like me.

I hope not. I don't think God intended them to be and that is good enough for me. However, I do believe in equal work equal pay. I spent 5 years on the road with my hubby who is a trucker. Women were always asking him to help them back the trailer to the dock (meaning they wanted him to actually do it, not just direct them) or wanted help tarping a load. I feel if you can do a job as good as man you are entitled to it. If you cannot do all of the requirements of the job you are not entitled to it.

They already are! Just because some people refuse to admit it or refuse to accept it, doesn't mean that God did not create men and women as equals. However, equal, does not mean "the same".

They ARE equals. The question is, will men ever realize this?

They seem to be coming around...slowly. Kudos to all the GOOD men out there!

Only if both men and women stop pigeon holing women as PMS bitching nagging catty sex kittens
And only if women stop being catty with each other and stop back stabbing - we are all sisters.
WE men women children are all people just trying to have a life and why can't we just be good to each other, white, black, yellow, red, brown, purple, stripped or what ever! Isn't life hard enuff as it is?
What is wrong with the human race?
