I am not from Ukraine.... (my question is under Travel).... and I am sure Ukrainians must be proud of their country so stop being a ********** and quit degrading the country.
By the way, asterisks above don't mean a thing... I just typed them up.

I am an American who has been living in Kiev and commuting back and forth between there and California for the last 3 years. Ukraine is a beautiful country and like anywhere else has its pro's and cons. It is by no means 3rd world. Depending on the city you live in or visiting the life style varies. The capitol, Kiev is very modern. They have mega markets that would compare to a Costco or Sams club, with great prices on food and produce (by U.S. standards). The average person does not earn a high salary so the style of living is not what most Americans are used to. Many share small apartments because they are expensive in the capital. Education is very good, especially at the K-12 grades. Most students learn 4 languages. Universities are good but there is corruption in them and in much of the business world. This is being addressed but change is slow. Ukraine is a new democracy and as such it takes some time for the people to adjust. The people and country are both beautiful. It might take a bit to get to know people at first but once you do you have friends that are with you for life and will do anything for you. The food is some of the best i have tasted and I have traveled to most of Europe over the years with work. If you have the chance it is a place worth visiting but not just for a week of vacation, it takes time to see it and get to know it.

I'm not Ukrainian, so I can't say much about living there. However, I've been to Lwów (Lvov) and I have to say its one of the most beautiful cities I've ever visited. A stunning place that will be ruined by mass tourism soon - so visit now!
In my opinion life there seemed fairly normal and certainly nothing like the 3rd world. There was food in the shops, new cars on the streets and it wasn't much different from Poland to be honest. It's Europe, not Africa. I hope that Ukraine joins the EU as soon as possible.

I've visited there once (kiev). VERY nice. I've lived in the former Soviet Union (Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan) for 6 years. I love it here. I think that's probably the best place of all the former republics.
The city is beautiful. The people are nice - educated, intelligent. Not TOO expensive. The women are beautiful. Reasonable standard of living (close to European standards),
The radiation alerts freaked me out though. They have temperature, humidity, and radiation levels on their daily weather reports (this is the nearest big city to Chernobyl). They never went into danger levels while I was there. Still, didn't like the fact that they even had to mention it.

it's a beautiful country and i hope to visit it one day. i know it only from my friends who spent every summer there.
one of them is going to move there for longer.
standard of living depends on place, like everywhere. there are big cities and little towns, some of them very poor. but the nature is awesome!..i some hundreds of pictures my friends made and I'm in love!!!
why are you asking about it, by the way??
