well not exactly,, another Vietnam,,,, a quagmire,,,, hundreds of thousands of Iraqis have already died,,,,, we will never know how many,, we destroyed Their government,,, WW11 was a war worth fighting,,,, my Dad is an 85 year old veteran,,, the USA was behind FDR through 4 terms,, he died in his 4th,,,, America was fighting against Fascists like Hitler,,, and the USA did win,, and at a huge cost,,, but Iraq is not supported by the majority of Americans,, many still don't even know that the Bush team has lied over and over,,, it compares more with the unattainable cause in Vietnam,,, not as many deaths because of medical improvements,, but the US has 20,000 amputees,, not to mention the brain damaged,,, out of the Bush team's Iraq war,,, plus our military are still dying in Afghanistan every day,,,,,, more than 200 Iraqis have died every day in July and August so far,,,,,,,,,,

WWII was won because we had the gumption to do what it took to win the war. There was very little political correctness involved. We could win the war in Iraq before years end if President Bush and other politicians had the same gumption (AKA Balls).
But then the liberals claim... NO, no, we can't do that, we can't engage in total warfare, that would only create more terrorists. My answer to that is bull. How many Japanese do you see running around bombing American interests and American civillians? The reason the muslim terrorist are so emboldened is because of people like you. People who quickly loose the will to stand up and fight for a cause.
Some have already mentioned the loss of life differences between WWII and the current war in Iraq. And some have mentioned you time frames are off.
You also have failed to see that we still have troops in Germany and in Japan, and have since WWII officially ended. We also still have troops in Bosnia... yeah that war that Clinton was engaged in... Maintaining troops in countries is a standard practice.
You need to study your history a little more, maybe... just maybe it will help with your patriotism a little as well.

I love how you pick which line of logic to follow.
Okay, you want to compare wars, lets do it.
2,500+ dead GIs in Iraq in the same time as WWII. Okay, why did you fail to mention the hundreds of thousands of U.S. dead in WWII? Is it because it does not support your claim?
You fail to mention the fact that, tragic as the loss of 2,500 soldiers is, they were all volunteers. Not a single draftee was forced to go overseas, unlike...........WWII.
Another point of dishonesty (either on purpose or through lack of knowledge) is the length of time involved. The War in Iraq vs the Iraqi army is much less than the 1247 days you listed. But you will count the total time there. If that is the case, care to re-add the time for our involvement in WWII. Yeah, the war ended in 1945 but we occupied Japan, Germany, and Italy for YEARS following the war. We still have bases dating back to our occupation. When you pick you facts so loosely this happens. I almost feel bad for you. I hope you will see the light soon enough.

You really need to find another topic if you are going to ask questions. I'm saddened by the deaths of any of our servicemen and women, each one is a tragedy as with the death of any loved one.
You could have done any number of searches on the web and found out that in less than 2 hours at Pearl Harbor we lost 2,280 American servicemen, 68 civilians with 1,109 wounded. Thats just the start of WW II for the United States, the second link has some unofficial estimates for casualties of WW II.
I'm sure I could find better info if I actually took more time looking, but this was a quick search. Next time do your homework, ok?
Here is a quote that fit's this situation IMO.

Your data is flawed, your logic is distorted, and your conclusions are totally erroneous.
The Iraq war lasted about three weeks before the Iraqi government fell. We are now in the mopping up stages and supporting the new Iraqi government.
By contrast it took over four years to defeat the German government, and about another ten years before the country was stabilized. There are US troops on German soil even now, sixty years after the end of the war.

"whilst cons argue that WWII became into longer in case you seem at it from the attitude of different international locations who have been already at conflict before the U. S. have been given in touch, are they intentionally attempting to learn apples with oranges?" Um, no, they are telling a certainty. US historic previous let us know that WW2 dated from 12-7-1941 to eight-15-1945, yet it is US involvement. Britain and France have been in touch when you consider that 1939, and China and Japan had in touch in wars when you consider that around 1932. This comes right down to whilst a us of a became in touch in WW2. of path you're comparing 2 categories of wars, so are you intentionally attempting to learn apples with oranges?

Iraqi War II. March 20, 2003 to August 19, 2005 Two years and 5 months. That's about 880 days. You're about 367 days off.
WW II (for US) Dec 7, 1941 to Sept 2, 1941. That's 3 years and 9 months. That's about 1365 days. You're about 120 days too short of what it really was.
Go back to school. Since you got the easy facts (and they are facts) wrong, you opinions are suspect.
When you learn how to count I may listen to you.
BTW: American Revolution. July 1776 (actually earlier) to Yorktown, October 1781. (actually later) 5 Years and 3 months.
Civil war: April 1861 to April 1865 (4 years)
Hundred years war (actually 116 years)
Crusades. A series of wars that lasted from 1095 to 1291.

1. Maybe the war was won because we went to kill
and win the war, not "talk it over" or to "be nice".
2. George Bush does not drink whiskey (he has been
off the sauce for many years now). You need
to brush up on your homework so you don't get it
wrong again. Maybe you're the one on whiskey or
worse.
3 You're the first one who 's mentioned a "knight in
shining armour" so I don't think anyone else in the
high places of government has even considered it
and won't.
4. Iraq itself doesn't want us to leave yet. They desperately
need our help. What if you lived over there and needed
some help. You would thank the U.S. just as they are
doing. The liberal media just doesn't want to play that
part up (watch CBN and you'll even see them thanking US).
5. You're one who would surrender with the white flat.
Guess George Bush is just not in your failing category.

You must be reading my thoughts....I feel exactly the same way.
I read somewhere the the total cost of the war my go up to one trillion dollars and I've been telling people that it's bankrupting the country but no one seems to care. As to the people in Iraq wanting us there just look what happened on august 5th when thosands of people marched through the capital city of Iraq shouting down with the U.S. And btw I do support our troops...I'm a vietnam vet and was proud to serve.

World War II lasted much longer than 1247 days. 1247 days is equal to about 3.5 years. It lasted from 1939-1945.

The war IS lost, it was always lost. I agree no more death. Let's set an example and behave in a civilized manner. I hope the war does bankrupt the US. If the loss of life doesn't make the Government sit up and take notice then maybe the loss of money will!! Pretty sad.
