After being warned of a probably disaster, Bush is asked if the government is prepared properly to help. Bush notably responds "Yes, the State and Local governments are fully prepared to deal with this emergency". Translation: Bush knew at that moment that he would not be helping New Orleans with the enormous resources at his command.

Yes, he deliberately abandoned us, & no, we're NOT prepared for another disaster because the levees will take YEARS to rebuild.

Aid was offered, and both the local and the state government refused it! Then they bad mouthed the Bush administration for not being there to help, just to cover up their own incompetence!

Personally, as a tax payer, I'm getting really pissed off about all the tax dollars that are being spent to rebuild a city where they have done nothing to protect themselves from the next hurricane that comes along.

New Orleans... Maybe Mother Nature is trying to tell you something... Like GET THE HELL OUT AND STAY OUT!!!!!

After being warned of a probable disaster, Mayor Nagan, hid, cowering in a corner. The governor also knew this storm was coming and did nothing. How dare you hold one man responsible for that mess????? Explain the buses that were left to flood (no excuse), explain why people were sent to the Dome where there were no provisions, (no excuse). There are many more instances of incompetence on the part of local and state government agencies, you might want to look into them. I am tired of the whining, the Federal Government is not our babysitter!!!!

honestly, i love to hate bush as much as the next person, but NO ONE had any idea the storm would be as bad as it was, not on a federal, state or local level. That was a tremendous tragedy, plain and simple. Why would he do that when the majority of victims would go to Texas and in turn hurt Texas republicans

Oh, think approximately to be kidding. the government (no longer Mr. Bush in my opinion...it rather is not his interest) has spent thousands and thousands in New Orleans, and has plans to spend thousands and thousands greater. MY question for YOU is why so few human beings in that section have carried out something to help THEMSELVES? i know one couple (count quantity them!) who had sufficient coverage ahead, and have been able to change their abode and the two autos. those human beings advised me horror thoughts approximately swarms of folk putting out waiting for a handout, and spending their image voltaic hours inventing new a thank you to falsely earnings the present enjoying cards the government and the pink pass presented. If the community New Orleans government is any handbook ("do no longer touch those college buses!"), i'm not sure we want do plenty greater for those human beings.

No. I lived in Louisiana during that time. The mayor and the governor refused help and then yelled when they were in trouble above their heads. There were buses sitting in town and they never evacuated the people. The governor and mayor were responsible for the problems that occured.

Ask your governor and the mayor about why there were so many busses sitting around when people should have been evacuated.

Oh yeah, the state and local gov't needs to REQUEST federal help at that level. If not, it could be misconstrued as martial law.

who cares?? you stupid hillbillies are still whining about this a year later?? You had about a week to get the hell out before Katrina hit. It's called "thinning of the herds" the stupid people get killed and lose their homes and the smart people move on with their lives. Now get a job and stop sponging off the government, losers.

He didn't deliberately do anything. What happened in New Orleans is the result of government laziness and incompetence.

I live out here, and I know people that lost everything and Bush ole funky *** didn't do anything to help, he left them people on that bridge to die....They had people coming dropping water out of planes, but none of them took people off the bridge to safety. Then Bush did a fly by over New Orleans looking at people stranded on top of their houses and stuff..did he give a f**k? NOOO!! If Katrina would have hit Florida then YES, he would have broke his neck trying to help!
