Not entirely true. Perhaps they could not treat them inside the clinic, but if the family member could not be bothered to make an appointment because the waiting was so long, the gynaecologist could give a private diagnosis as long as full consent was given. The outcoming diagnosis would be fully trusted as well because the family member would have been a trusted person to be asked in the first place. I cannot see anything wrong with a doctor consulting his wife, daughter sister etc. If he was a good enough doctor to have a his registration why would he treat family any different to his patients?

Very few doctors of any kind treat their family members. It's an invasion of privacy and a conflict of interest. My dad is a doctor, and I don't go to him.
