For example, if I talked to a golfcourse caretaker about buying my product and he talked the golf course superintendent into buying it, would it be legal for me to give the caretaker a kickback or rebate in return for getting the superintendent to buy it? I'm in South Carolina by the way.

I believe the term would be a 'finders fee'. I don't know SC law, but as long as all parties are aware of the fee, I don't see a problem.

No it is not illegal, However if there were lies or deception involved it would be immoral.
