I really don't think that there is a whole lot of validity to your question/ statement about the status of the Democratic party. For many years prior to the political appointment of George W. Bush by the Supreme Court to the position of President in 2000, many people would have said the same of the Republican Party. But I'm sure that with the current regime's "Culture of Corruption", we will see a change in the political landscape as the elections come and go! Many Americans were subdued and voted erroneously over the past 6 years due to the Totalitarian trick of using "Terror" to influence the behavior of the masses. The Nazi's used "Terror" most effectively in it's campaigns, and GWB and Rove used it in much the same way. John Kerry had the opportunity to overthrow our current Dictator, but failed to stimatize Bush as being "incompetent" as he has proven to be the most misinformed, ill-advised, bad -decison making President that we have possibly ever had. However Bush did not fail to stimatize Kerry as being "wishy-washy". As a result, the country sided with Bush. Now Americans are hated everywhere in the Free-World. People protest like never before wherever Bush goes, and even his own Party has doubts as whether he has true conservative values or not! Now, if that isn't enough, I'm sure the myriad of scandals, lies, complications of policies, inflation, high gas prices, divisiveness, and this abomination of a War will be enough to change American voting practices in the near future, and the Democratic party will rise again...

A party built on the backs of the people is not a party of the people,How can you trust your republican president that has lied to everyone from day one.Your policy is built on the fact that republicans and the religious right are sheep with no real thought of their own, blindly being led to slaughter after being sheered of their brains by their party.George W.Bush clearly has proven to be a puppet for Cheney and Haliburton.
We shall see who has lost more than touch with Americans and reality when 2008 has come and your party is gone. You will speak fondly of the good old days like all has bens.
The Democratic party has never lost touch with the real Americans and they and the tidal wave of voters will wash the stink of your republican party and Bush from America
from sea to shinning shore.

You can't trust any politician! But at least they have the guts to admit they lost touch with the American people. Unlike republicans who keep screaming laws like the patriot act are good for the American people. I would trust the democrats honesty to America over the republicans lies and deceit anytime.

You need to read more and become more informed on issues. None of what you said is the truth, none. In education you will find truth, you will not find the truth on Fox news or from Rush.

While I agree with your statement that the party has lost touch and has no coherent platform, I doubt they've actually publicly admitted this.
The fundamental problem with our current political model is that it promotes and sustains an effective two-party system. So, many people feel that their only option if they don't want to vote Republican is to vote Democrat. It's a delusion, but one that doesn't look like it's going away any time soon.
