What is the difference between fluorescent bulbs that are T-8 and those that are not (for reptile habitat)? The T-8 bulbs are so much more expensive, is there some reason they are worth it?

These bulbs give out 8% uv light that is esential for lizards, tortoise and turtles so that they can produce vit A and D in their system. This then aids the depositing of calcium in their bones so that they are healthy. It simulates the sunlight that they would get if they were in the wild.

T12 bulbs are your standards (1 1/2inch diameter), T8 bulbs are a lot brighter and have a thinner diameter (only 1") so you can pack more closer together.
