i have just got a new laptop and i would like to transfer my itunes to it from my mac can it be done.

Yeah, it can be done, the question is what is the best way for you? It depends on what wires you have laying around the house. You can use your mac in target disk mode (hold down the T key on start -up) and a proper firewire cable and transfer your music like that. If you have an ethernet cable, you can connect the two computers together like that, or do it wireless if both computers have Wi/Fi, or you could even do it with Bluetooth (slow). As last resort you can use a flash drive, CD, or DVD.

ITunes likes to hide things. It likes to take your files and put them where you can't find them. When I got a new computer, I tried to transfer the songs on a flash drive onto my new computer, but the files were gone. They show up in the ITunes playlist but the song files were nowhere to be found. I think the best thing to do is to reload from a CD/redownload the music.
