Do you think it is ok to have your love interest to have friends of the opposite sex? Like, you are dating a boy and he has female friends, (if you two are in a straight relationship). Same question for gays and lesbians, except having friends of the same gender.

Unless there is reason for you not to trust him with female friends. There is nothing wrong with it. Don't get excited until there is a cause for it. I do not attract female friends easily because they are the jealous, 'i feel threatened' type, and can't comprehend opposite sex, friendships with out intercourse. Whatever you do, don't be one of those women and you won't have to worry about your man. They need some degree of freedom and chance to prove trust to you just like we want and need them to trust us for all the same reasons.

Unless you are living in Saudi Arabia, it is highly unlikely that your love interest will have only same-gender friends.

And unless you are living on a deserted island, or in a cave somewhere with JUST your love interest, I don't see how a gay person could NOT have friends of the same gender.

So, yeah - it's ok :)

If you are married and your husband/wife wants to be friends with someone of the opposite sex - That's a big no no . That's how affairs are started. My husband is not allowed to have friends of the opposite sex and either am I . We are fine with this.

I don't think you should have too much say over your love interest's friends. That would be too controlling and most people won't tolerate that in a relationship.

I think it is completely possible to have friends of both genders regardless of your sexual orientation.

First of all the relationship wouldn't be much of a relationship without trust. So yes, I think it is okay.
