Ok. I am part of a team of eleven 14 year olds and we work for the office of the commissioner for young people. We are technically members of government (Woo!).We try and fix the inequalities that children and young people suffer from in day to day life. Where do you go after school? Youth Clubs? Where can we promote our aim. OUr aim is to hear young peoples opinions and thoughts and problems and tell them to Professor Sir Albert Aynsley-Green for him to take to parliament and eventually sort things out for us - the younger community!

Please help me with this!

Thanks xxx

Ok Smart *** Stuart - Yes it is technically part of the government we get government funding and everything. Secondly - No its not classified advertising, im asking for peoples opinions. And thirdly, he is commissioner for young people and we're in the UK - he's doing his job in dealing with kids!

Its adults like you that have made me and my colleagues stand up to jerks like you. You think just because we're kids you have the right to look down on us and try and proves us wrong on everything we do. If your not going to support what we're doing for our country and just make snide remarks then you can just piss off!

And your comment about us only being created to keep minds off the war, the actual office has been running for about 9 years so if you dont know what your talking about then dont say anything - you're only making a fool of yourself and being showed up by a 14 year old girl.

I don't do anything after school. And for how adults treat me, well it pisses me off. I would like to have my opinion respected, and not be labeled an immature kid. Not to say children don't do things stupid, but adults do stupid things too. I would just want to be treated like a person, not a kid or an adult, but a person. And not be labeled immeditatly because of my age. But whatever, this is life, and well kids do the same stupid thing when it comes to adult. I guess there will always be a barrier between different generations

Well, first, about the "member of government" thing another Yahooligan brought up - no, you aren't technically a member of the government. Receiving funding from the government, or working for the government, are not the criteria for being a member. If you aren't a member of the House of Commons or House of Lords (in other words, the Parliament) you are not a member. You might, however, be a civil servant if you are being paid.

Secondly, this site shows your question to Yahooligans from all over the world - you should probably focus on finding youth from the UK. (I'm from Canada, for example.)

Finally, many of the youth who probably need help may not even have regular Internet access, let alone have heard of this website. One of the most powerful things you could probably do would be touring around with your team to different schools (including ones in poor areas) and interviewing other youth. You'd have to have questions prepared - and specific ones. If you end up with a hundred kids all saying "My parents are mean to me" or "People don't take me seriously because I'm a kid", what can the government really do? Try to change or punish the adults who voted it in?

But if you can get people asking for really specific things (like, as you mentioned, after-school clubs) then that's something that has real potential for action. Some possible questions might be:

+ What are some problems or obstacles that you, as youth, experience often?

+ If the government were able to start up some programs, which of these would be important to you (if any)?
--- Setting up more part-time jobs for young people
--- Programs to increase knowledge about racism, sexism, or homophobia
--- Having a fun, safe place to hang out in after school
--- Programs in which young people can experience first-hand what different jobs and careers are like
etc, etc.

+ Do any of these have an impact on your life?
--- Poverty
--- Racism
--- Sexism and/or Homophobia
--- etc, etc

Basically, you need a good way of asking good questions (ones that will give you usable answers) to kids from all different areas - so I suggest you do some travelling within your region and collect your information face-to-face rather than from this site.

You should also consider setting up a quiz or survey online - that way you could visit schools, put on demonstrations about what you're doing, and then send people to your address if you don't have time to really talk. You'd have to ask about funding for a survey site, but they aren't usually expensive.

Basically, it sounds like you've been given a really important job in which you're really interested in making a difference. I think you should just get out there and really involved with these youth - because Yahoo isn't going to give you the kind of answers you reall need.

Best of luck, & congratulations on becoming a youth activist!

at the same time as your common sense is agency, and it doeschronic me loopy that a number of my friends (i'm 15) insist on appearing like little ones who have not yet realized to handle frustration, or who insist on taking grownup events at the same time as refusing the outcomes. i in my opinion do no longer care no matter if i'm categorised as a baby or a gentle grownup or what no longer. i'm a human and a label gained't replace my personality. On yet another subject matter, at the same time as I comprehend there are a range of formative years that act immaturely for his or her age, labeling the lot human beings is really problematic. in the previous day or so I easily have study a range of of posts on quite a few web pages affirming a million. The poster is disgusted of me because of my age 2. That I should be compelled on lengthy time period birth control because of my age 3. That I should be compelled to attend boot camp because of my age. None of those were directed instantly at me, basically at my friends commonly. regardless of that it remains hurtful that, as a results of immature action s of my friends, and the unneeded stereotyping be tremendous parts(no longer all) of the grownup inhabitants, there exists those who've determined that, do to my age, i'm an inferior speciem of human, who's body and destiny should be on the whim of social coverage. now to not say i do not decrease to rubble, I actually do. even with the undeniable fact that I take duty for reported blunders, and cause them to because i'm human and characteristic a lot to earnings, rather then because i'm mind-a lot less or run through hormones.

There are a number of free resources available to advertise your website and increase traffic. You can advertise on relevant free classifieds ( www.craigslist.org) ,directories (dmoz) and relevant forums. Major search engines like Yahoo, Google , MSN search are a major source of visitors for most websites and you can submit your website to these search engines for free. You can also run contests offering prizes to regular visitors. I have found the following website useful
