People can be such hippocites on this subject. Of COURSE Pete should be in the Hall of Fame. All bets aside, he forever changed the game. It's sad that such a great career is even put into doubt when it comes to his induction. One day, when the smoke clears and all the media hype is gone (and sadly when Rose is gone too, in all likelihood) he will be a member of the hall of fame. This is set aside for achievements surrounding the game. Politics have kept him away from the membership status he so rightly deserves.

On a technicality, he is in the HOF. In the records room, his name is there as the all-time hits leader. He just doesn't have a plaque. Now as for him having a plaque, yes he should be there. Yes, he broke a major rule, but he did not throw games to get his money. The 1919 White Sox did do that. They got paid to do that, except Shoeless Joe. It is too bad he knew about it and got kicked out for it. Now Pete is not a model citizen, but then neither are the steroid users or the dope heads, but they be in the HOF and that will tarnish baseball just as much as what Pete did. I do not think that is fair.

I agree he should be in the Hall of Fame. He played the game with fervor, determination, and eagerness regardless of his gambling habits. AND he did it without steroids!!!!
If people are denied the Hall of Fame based on their personal life, then players such as a drunken, womanizer like Babe Ruth should be booted out.
He was rightfully kicked out of baseball, but his feats on the Reds should entitle him to the Hall of Fame.

Yes he should be in the hall. I don't think they will let hI'm in as long as he is alive though. After he dies im sure he will get in. They just won't give him the satisfaction of enjoying it in his lifetime. As for those of you saying McGuire, Sosa and Bonds don't deserve to be in your full of it. McGuire and Sosa single handily saved baseball with what they did in 98. Bonds (who I don't care for by the way) also deserves to be there. Yes he probably took steroids but passing Babe Ruth and getting close to Arron was not done entirely with steroids. He too will be in.

He has earned his place as a hall of famer. His reputation was tarnished but he wasn't fixing games or cheating in any way so I say let him in.

NO. His actions were so heinous he should never be inducted into the Hall Of Fame.
