WELL this would be a small miracle if accomplished .ONCE the insurance money and government money was snatched up it left very little for those displaced by the storm.
True many of them where renters and the few peole that owned are the ones who have suffered .
I am sure they will at some point compinsate the owners but at pennys on the dollar .
THIS will allow a small group of previous owners to reshape the area .
THE city seems to operate fine without the welfare cases of that 9th ward area ,and future plans do not include the return of these people .
IT was considered a high crime district and the powers to be do not want a return of this type of group to the community .
THEY have systimaticaly ignored the people who have been displaced and relocated them .With the intent of dispersing this group .
ALL i can say is it is going to change the landscape of New Orleans forever .SOME would say for the better but we did not learn anything by concentrating a group of under achievers and welfare cases to a given area .
THIS place was always poor and has grown in population and government care sinse the 70's unchecked and with no progress towards integration into the working community .
THE victums of Katrina are the poor and it is the failure of government to of provided solutions to this problem .
IF it where not for increased land prices and land ownership by harlem residents another community would suffer .
BUT slowly the harlem community is selling out and moving to different areas of the nation .NOW empowered with cash from the sale of property that is valued by investors in the city of New Y ork .
The katrina survivors and land owners will be taken advantage of and blacks who owned will be displaced perminently .Replaced by white investors who have a vision of how it can be rebuilt once the undesirables are no longer able or willing to make the investments to rebuild .
THIS was the biggest giveaway with no results in american history and another example of the Bush administration and its disregard of the minority community .

I live in Katrina Land. We have been promised help and very few
promises have been kept. I applied twice for help from
FEMA and was turned down twice. Then the Government
came up with federal grants but then turned around and put restrictions on the grants. I didn't qualify for any grant either.
There are still people living in tents and others waiting for
FEMA trailers. Of course the trailers aren't all that safe either.
p.s. How can a force of nature be provoked!? That implies it was alive. Do you live down here? Such nonsense.

I agree the Bush administration lied and should be held to judgment for their response to Katrina and Rita - these people are Americans.
He did get them waterfront property though. LOL

Does anyone ever notice how Republicans, like Kevin always want others to do the work for them.? Most who are informed and well read already know the answer but Republicans want you to look it up for them. Is this because they are lazy or is it because they never read any books?
