Tough question... the thing is that you know him more than any of us...
But, I can tell you from my own experiences, that it's hard to find everything a guy can want from a girl. If I was to imagine myself in his shoes.. this would be how the story is.
Before the summer, we argue... During the summer, I figured I'll meet another girl that can match up to you, or better. Towards the end of the summer, I realize that I hadn't.... and the chances of doing so looks slim... therefore I'd figure I'd try a shot at trying to get in touch with you again...
That's the worst case scenerio... the better case is... He "thought" that he didn't want or need you, but as the months have gone by, he realize that YES, you are really the person he wants, but of course he will never admit to it.

Summertime is one of the busiest times of year, no one stays near a phone long enough to call anyone, family or friends. Is this the first arguement? Could be he was threatened by not seeing you over the summer and you finding someone else when you go home, and just didnt handle the situation with thought. If you call him back, tell him 'sure, can't wait to hang out, I've missed talking to you.' Don't wait for him to respond to the comment and say nothing more about it, wait for school to start when you can confront him face to face and let him know you are still a little confused from when school let out, and if so, a small explination of 'WTF' happened, would be nice if he wants to keep you around. Stay calm, cool, n collected. Maybe it's a sign of things to come between the two of you. If not, you can still keep your friend.

Well, the guy needed to do some thinking. Finally, he thinks that he cant live without ya and is ready to forget the argument. Thats if he is a honest guy. If the guy is a flirt, then he wants you to be with him during college...u kow...two timers..... I, as a guy, have been in this situation and i did the same thing but my gf thoguht negatively. U know wat.....why dont u go for a small get-together again and try to see wat he wants, the reason for this and test him if u want to.

He wants the benefits that he used to get from you -- he wants the assurance that he'll get those benefits when you get back to school. It seems like maybe you both aren't really into each other that much or you would have called each other after the argument.

from experience don't be friends with benefits because feeling grow and you will get hurt more then you will be able to handle. if this guy really likes you make a commitment with him before anything else happen please be carefully i am still in so much pain because that the way we were suppose to be to and it just messed up with feeling

Don't sell yourself short. He may be thinking this girl can have any guy she wants. He likes you thats for sure but whether he respects you is something you'll have to reexamine how he treats you. Study him this next school year, his actions, his nonactions. Then you'll know more.
