Yes, they'll go over $4.00. The only question is when. Worst case, by the end of the year. Best case, in a couple of years.
Energy prices hurt now, but will force the country to become more frugal and efficient, not to mention less dependent on foreign oil. That will benefit everyone eventually.
Even at $4.00 a gallon it will still be a bargain compared to most of the rest of the world. It's well over $5.00 a gallon in all of Europe and well over $6.00 a gallon in many European countries. Try $7.11 a gallon in the UK.

I don't like them but I'm like others who have had to adjust to the prices considereing even in Canada the price is getting close to $4.50/gal and they run vehicles closer in consumption to ours than they do in Europe.
I find the oil companies jack it up to a point where people stop buying, then pull them down to the point people will become accustomed to the gas prices and keep it there... I'm like everyone else where $2.00 and lower I'd love it (I'd know I'd be on the road instead of here right now)
$4.00 will be in our future, espcially if minimum wage goes up (the poor will better be able to take the hurt in their eyes)
and in response to the Ford thing.. I can say Ford was taking too much faith in the american bigger is better thing.... People are still buying bigger, just not like before. But I think you'll see the American car makers get cars from Europe over here in a jiffy to try to control the bleeding.
My funny thing is, I think American mentality will take over soon.. A few will buy the small cars and after being almost killed on the freeway a couple of times will say screw the fuel economy for the safety( as in size)

Gas prices are rising in tandem with wages. I hope to be making more money when gas hits four bucks, which is a guarantee unless the world ends this year. When prices hit a buck years ago, I was making less money. My income has also increased as gas prices increased. So there really is no problem. Unless you choose to make a problem because you have uncontrolled spending habits. The good thing about higher gas prices is that it forces car makers to either fold or make more efficient cars. Honda and Toyota are examples of "Let's make more efficient cars, stay in business, and dominate the industry". Ford is an example of "Let's make inefficient vehicles, rely on trucks and SUVs to keep us solvent, and cut production, jobs, and factories as a result". Thankfully, though, all the Ford production workers will be able to find jobs with foreign automakers that have set up plants in the U.S. Higher fuel prices are Darwinism in action. Survival of the fittest. The slackers get left behind and evolve into extinction.

I think thy are to high and thy will go way past $4.00
in 1990 gas was about 87 cents a gal. it shot up 75 cents and never really went down, every time you look it shots up 50 cents or more, and it is blamed on some war, but even after that war it only goes down about 10 cents then creeps back up.

$7 IN UNITED KINGDOM IS SOOO MISLEADING. $5 OF THAT IS GOVERNMENT FUEL TAX!!!!!!!! SO IT'S ACTUALLY $2/GAL IN UK WITHOUT THE TAX. THEY DON'T MIND THE TAX BECAUSE THEY DON'T DRIVE THAT MUCH AND THEIR CARS GET OVER 30MPG WHILE OURS ONLY GO 22MPG ON AVG.
USA IS 5% OF THE WORLD POPULATION BUT WE CONSUME 1/4 OF ALL FUEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CHECK OUT HOW MUCH THEY PAY IN VENEZUELA... 17 CENTS A GALLON!!!!!!!!!!!
WHEN I FIRST STARTED DRIVING FUEL WAS 79 CENTS A GALLON, THEN IN 2000 IT WAS 89 CENTS A GALLON UNDER CLINTON. SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU MORONS ELECTED A OIL MAN IN TO THE WHITE HOUSE?
BTW, FUEL PRICES HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH SALARIES, YOU MORONS!!!!!!!! IF YOU THINK WORKERS GOT RAISES BECAUSE FUEL WENT UP, YOU'RE A BIGGER MORON THAN THE IDIOTS IN THE WHITE HOUSE.

o heck yea!! i see alot of people b**ching about gas prices but i don't see them buying smaller, economical autos or cutting down on unnessary driving, using the mass transit systems, laying off the lead foot driving. as long as the oil companies see this the price will go up.
