i want to use this filet graph to make a scarf....how can i make it smaller to fit in a graph so i can put it on a normal size scarf
1 square = 1 single crochet...at least half the size smaller

I don't know how you would do that.... you might lose some of the pattern if you do. Maybe do it in a thinner yarn? That way you wouldn't have to worry about making it smaller and even if you don't there's nothing wrong with a thick wide scarf?!

Print out the picture, then make a copy of it at 50%. It will be half as big as the original.
If it doesn't fit exactly, tinker with the % on the copier.

I once made something bigger than the pattern by using a bigger crochet hook, so I guess you could try the same thing in reverse by using a smaller hook.

Also, if you wanted the design, but not in fillet crochet, you could take a normal scarf and use the pattern as a cross-stitch or needlepoint pattern.

save the picture to your computer, copy it, open the copy with your paint and in there you can shrink it down and print. Keep trying until it is the size you want. Keep the original just incase you need to copy and start over with sizing. Good luck
