I use homeopathic teething tablets. It's natural and has no side effects. You can find at most pharmacies.
But remember to ALWAYS ask your doctor before medicate your baby, no matter what you are using.

I use the Little Teethers teething tablets. And my pediatrician said not to use Motrin until my son is 6 months old, so I use Tylenol if nothing else seems to help. Also, if you read the Orajel box, it says it's for babies 4 months and up. My son has been showing the signs of teething a little before he turned 3 months. Always ask your doctor before you give them anything. Most of the teething tablets out there are 100% natural, so you can feel a little better about having to give them something. There's many teething rings, etc. out there as well. My son likes the water filled ones, you can put them in the fridge to get them cold, but never freeze them. And there's nipples you can buy(if they're bottlefed) that have little nubbies on them that help massage their gums.

A short necklace made from amber and worn directly touching the baby's skin is the best thing to relieve teething pain. Amber isn't a stone, it's a resin. When warmed by the skin, it secretes an oil that helps relieve bone/joint pain, including teething pain.
Oragel is truly useless. A little saliva (which teething babies produce en masse) and it washes away. Tylenol helps, but you can't medicate your child constantly until they cut all of their teeth, so you need something else to help them cope with the pain. Using frozen objects and letting baby chew on them is a nice thing to do from time to time. I particularly like the fluid-filled pastic/rubber objects that can be frozen, because they won't cause frostbite or be too cold in baby's mouth.

Hyland's Teething Tablets is the BEST teething medication you can give. They also make a gel, but I prefered the tablets. They melt right in their mouth right away so there is no danger of choking.
As far as things to chew on, most of the teethers you can buy stink in my opinion.
A hard, cold stalk of celery is a GREAT teether for a child who has little or no teeth. It can reach anywhere in the mouth and they can't bite anything off of it yet. (They should be supervised, of course.)
Wet a baby washrag and freeze it. Or tie an ice cube inside a baby sock. Or put an ice cube or a cube of frozen breastmilk into a baby safe feeder. (Mesh feeding bag.)

the best things for teething baby is frozen waffles and a cold wash cloth the frozen waffle is cold and they can chew on it for a long time and it also collects alot of spit and they get food to or a cold wash cloth cause it is cold and it also collects DONT use oral a gel or any other thing that numb the gums cause it may make the baby's mouth feel better but it toughens up the gums and that makes it harder for the teeth to come through and why would we want to make it harder for them . I have tryed the waffles and the wash cloth on my children and i know that about the oral gel cause i am a nurse

Ice wrapped in a thin washcloth secured with a rubber band. There is also a net like product (sold at Wal-mart) that you can place a piece of frozen fruit in for the baby to gnaw on. The net is strong and feels good on the gums.
Ibuprofen for swelling and pain. On the gums medications do not help.

Advice from my Grandma: Only give medication when truely needed. For teething, we always put the Gerber spoons in the freezer and when they are good and cold, let the baby chew on them. We kept several at a time in the freeze, especially since they didn't take up much space.

Hyland's teething tablets have been awesome for my baby. He has his 4 top teeth coming in at the same time and I tried everything but when i tried hyland's he slept through the night and he felt so much better. They're hard to find but if you do keep them around, they are worth it

If the baby has no teeth yet, chill & peel an apple or carrot, and let them hold it & gnaw away. They will get numb from the cold, while gettting flavor but no pieces to choke them.
This is to go WITH the tylenol.
