You don't explain the type of beauty or define beauty, inner or outer beauty, physical beauty, social beauty (or acceptance), spiritual beauty (also acceptance, guidance, faith, love), beautiful character, attitude, reputation; preception of beauty (yours or theirs)? I can't think of much of anything (this includes being unhappy) that is a 'good reason' for pain. In my opinon, beauty can not ever be a good reason (justify) for pain or unhappiness. Don't let anyone convince you differently because it would be an unhealthy relationship if they try. Beauty would justify strong self-esteem, self-respect, joy, happiness and some of the beautiful things mentioned above. SHARE IT!!

Beauty is an ideal but lies in the eyes of the beholder. To live is to suffer. Pain makes us feel alive. The two are not related unless you take great pains to be beautiful or think that pain is beautiful.

Any goal is a means to a higher goal.

Something can be good in one context, but bad in another.
Pain is bad on its own, but can be good within a different context, for example, getting your tooth filled, or undergoing surgery to prevent worse, or in self defense, if necessary for survival.

So, to judge whether something is good (justifed) or not, you must ask yourself if it serve the higher goals.

I did, and I believe that reconstructive surgery after severe mutulation due to fire burns or other accidents, beauty does justify pain, because the alternative will cause more (psychological) pain.

But plastic surgery to make someone 'normal' or 'average' more 'beautiful', is very bad, shallow/vain.
But that's merely my judgement based on the simple fundamental rule above.

Beauty does justify pain. To go for cosmetic surgery and suffer all these discomforts is worth all of it ,when you see the end-results.
The pain made it all worthwhile; when you see this vision of beauty looking back at you. Beauty might only be skin deep;but it sure does attract atentions.

Those who have died under plastic surgery would not think so. Also, all of the unfortunate beauties who have been raped and murdered by those sick people attracted to their appearances would not think so. Sorry if you are "unhappy" right now. Beauty does not last; character does. Everything passes, but the young don't know that yet! Good luck my dear.

It depends on how the question is interpreted. Is beauty worth the pain from cosmetic surgery? I guess that depends on how much of your self esteem comes from physical appearance. I would have to say personally that it wouldn't be worth it. I would hate to be with someone who wouldn't have loved me just as much if my boobs were smaller.
If you mean the grander scale of beauty such as falling in love, or the beauty of returning home than yes it's worth all the pain in the world.

Beauty is more than skin deep and the only pain that can be justified is the pain of broken heart.
