E-bay is an excellent place to find the market value for things. Just look for things similar to what you want to sell. ...then watch them go.

eBay is a good way to find out what people are willing to PAY in a general or "cash now" sense. But its only a gage to what people are willing to pay if you want to sell something quickly. Demand factors heavily into what items go for --- I've seen collectibles (stamps, coins, sports cards, artwork, etc) either not sell at all or go for a fraction of the items real value where if they had been sold through a different venue they would have done better.

Search for collector's websites for the type of item sometimes can also be helpful. They may have wanted or "for salel" lists that better reflect what the interested community would pay.

Even then, I would only use any info as a rough guideline as to what to expect.
