I'm looking for a segment of a script about ten minutes in length, that can be acted out by 2 people, male and female. We need it for my high school debate class. Me and my friend David are doing a Duo Interpratation. It needs to be prefferably funny, where the two characters interact alot, I.E. shaking hands, high fives, punching one another, that sort of thing. It also needs to be part of a published play.... If anyone can help me, it will be GREATLY appreciated!!!!

I would love to make up my own script, but it has to be already published. We're using it to go to a competition.. If we could write it ourselves I'd do that in an instant.

(Wow, some of these people are harsh! I'm a high school forensics coach, so I know how much time it takes to find suitable cuttings for contest. I don't blame you at all for seeking help!)
Have you asked your coach if he/she has a file of cuttings used in previous years, or if he/she has suggestions of a good scene for the two of you? That would be the best place to start.
Try these:
http://www.playscripts.com
has many 10 minute one act plays, plus you can pre-view them online before you buy - saves money!
http://www.brookpub.com
is the site for Brooklyn Publishers, which specializes in cuttings for contest. You have to be careful, though, because some of the plays are unbelievably inane. You can also pre-view most of them online before you buy.
http://www.samuelfrench.com
has several volumes of books called "10 Minute Plays from the Actors Theatre of Louisville." Just go to the website and type "ten minute plays" into the search box. Unfortunately, you can't read samples at this site, but I've seen many of these selections done at contests in my area, so I know that lots of them are high quality.
Good luck to you and your partner!

It would be difficult for me to help you by directly giving you a particular script for it'll do alot of typing. Let me just give you an idea. Why not just add, combine, revise or make other changes neccesary on funny commercials seen in TV. You can also try some short funny conversations in the disney channel & nickelodeon like in The Amanda Show, That's So Raven, Lizie McGuire, etc.

I'm not sure if you are looking for ideas or for a complete script. Seems like THAT (the whole script idea) would be crossing the "cheating line". Of course, the ideas are in the millions. At least. One that I would find interesting are two coeds (yourselves) all exciting about your new well to do, nice looking boyfriends that as it builds each proceeds to make hers seem to be the Richest. Then the Most Handsome. AND ultimately, of course, THE Best Lover! Excitement turns into competition the longer it goes on and the more hostile it becomes. At the peak-in desperation- statements began to become down right Unbelievable, until as competition turns violent, a few verbal blows turn out to be clues that both girls are dating the same guy! Once this is established, the girls turn to a closing competition as to which can make the creep seem the MOST undesirable.

I have the PERFECT script. It's called "Sure Thing," by David Ives. You'll find it in the collection "All in the Timing." It's a short one-act, and runs just a little more than 10 minutes, I believe. One man, one woman. For most of the piece, they're seated at a table, but you can add movement as needed.
Believe me, it's an absolute GEM.

Check out Barnes and Noble for books with short skits/scripts. My husband bought one there: High-School Monologues They Haven't Heard by Roger Karshner. I know you're looking for 2-person scripts, but you could always add in stuff of your own. My point though, is that B&N probably have exactly what you're looking for, and by getting a book, you can have multiple skits to use in the future.

Go to the library and check a book out by the name of "The House of Usher" by Robert Poe. You will finds tons of dialogue for a male and female. (You will have to create the dialog on paper...but I remember it not being hard) I used this in a film class once and everyone was surprised. The audience had never heard this particular dialogue and I did an interpretation with the material comedically. The audience loved it. One of the props I used was a long wool houndstooth jacket, a huge handheld spyglass and (i can't think of the name) an english hat that an investigater would have worn way back when (It flips up on the sides has a tie at the top - like Sherlock holmes.)

Try "Take Ten" or "Take Ten II." They are anthologies of ten minute plays. They are both edited by Eric Lane and Nina Shengold and published by Vintage books. I also like many of the ten minute plays by David Raine, but I don't know where they are published. None the less alot of the plays in these books are written for casts of 2-4.
