You cant. The car sees something wrong and has gone into fail safe mode witch allows you to drive to a repair station to get it fixed. You would need test tool for BMW that could read the code and tell you whats wrong. Since they run about $16,000 or more very few independents have what it takes. Depending where you live you may have to go to a dealer. Or you could call a BMW only shop and ask if the have the tester for you car.
The trans on that car is electronic and works with the rest of the so it may not be just a trans problem. It could be a control unit that needs to be recoded, it could be a sensor thats gone bad.
Good luck!

Your car has a problem with the software, you should take it too the nearest BMW repairshop or dealer. You've been playing too much with the gearbox and the software switched to safe mode operation.
If you continu operating the car with this alarm on, your waranty may be revoked. So act quickly.
