Hey there,
No worries, every woman has her period for a different amount of time. Different flows (light, average, heavy, etc) as well. I only have mine for 2-3 days, a friend of mine gets hers for 7-8, and another friend gets hers for closer to 10 days at a time. Everyone is different. No worries. Also, when you first start your period, it can be really odd, from the time it lasts, to also the time in between one period to the other. I went months without getting my period when I was young. You can talk to your doctor at your next physical (once yearly) about it as well if you like.
Take care :)

There shouldn't be a problem with this. Even if you are on the pill you can go longer than 7 days. You will have very irregular periods if you have just started or are stopping having your periods. If something happens to stress you out or excite you it can change the time frame of your period also. Not to worry unless you are consistently have a hard time with your periods - extra long or extra hard than you can get something from your doctor to help - usually the pill works for those things.

Don't worry too much, periods are unpredictable, the average for a period is 7 days, some women bleed for longer and some shorter. Just keep an eye on the bleeding, if it becomes heavier than normal and is more painfull then normal go and visit your doctor. If you are worried you can contact your local family planning clinic or doctor for advise

No there's nothing to worry about! There are different lengths of time that your period can last, and 8 is still healthy. It's when you get to like 3 weeks or so with it that you should really worry :-P. If you are really worried about this, call your GYN and get reassured by the receptionist.

Sometimes longer periods are normal. Especially if you bleed lightly. If after eight days it is still heavily bleeding you may want to talk to a doctor. But for some women this is perfectly normal.
Don't get caught up in the numbers, it's different for everybody!

You should be okay. They can last different amounts of time. If it keeps it up for a few more days, you should check it out. Did you talk to your mom about this? You should.
