When my old power supply had a short circuit, I bought a new one and I tried to install it by myself but it stops working when i connected the hard drive. When i disconnected the hard drive it works help me please.

That's pretty strange... perhaps the problem with the old power supply was also the hard drive. Do you have access to a different hard drive to see if that is the problem...

It sound like u have a short circuit some ware in the system.
The power supply is a switching power supply.
When it scents a short it go in idle mode.

are you connecting the ribbon cable correctly? the power connector is keyed but the ribbon cable can be connected wrong and will gorund out the supply.
