First of all if you became a buffalo i would try to bring you back as you were before. Even if it coased death i would not become exhausted untill i would make you a man again.

What would a buffalo do with recompense? Buffalos run free and eat the wild grass. The best I could do for you would be to set you free to join your herd and take your chances again, or adopt you and try to keep a buffalo as a pet...which, given where I live wouldn't be an easy thing to do.
