The people I know well are not being brainwashed. We didn't vote for him!! Bush has shown he wants to rule the world with his type of government, that the USA has control of, his brand of fundamentalist religion, and he lies and we know it. Most of those who voted for him have changed their minds about him, if the polls are correct. He once made the statement that the ideal type of government was a dictatorship---if he was the dictator. I guess he was trying to be funny. But, down deep inside, he meant it.
Most of the world hates us, thanks to George W. we still have him for almost 2 1/2 years. I wonder how much else he can screw up in that length of time.

Disillusioned ? About America ? Never at her worst shes still the home of the brave and the land of the free.
No you are mistaken,I can not lose faith in my self and I am America just like every other American is America.Other people, from other country's don't understand it they call us arrogant ,but we are only full of pride for this great land we call home.
America may falter from time to time but she always recovers and gets better. In 2008 ask Americans how they feel to be rid of Bush.you will see a better America.
can you hear the muted sound of America The beautiful, being hummed as you read this :) May sound pretty patriotic but its how I feel.

I don't see your logic, nor agree with your statement. I am dis-illusion-ed because of the Government while Bush is in office. I am working to change back to an America that I CAN be proud of post Bush.

The UK sucks. We aren't brainwashed. We just are powerless now that we have a neo-con at the helm and the media is eating it up.

Amen to you Foureyes. Except I'm not so brainwashed that I don't see the agenda. Oil and big corporation driving the politics - sacrificing soldiers and spilling blood. The terrorists are the serpents that you chop off one head, but another grows in its place. In other words, there will be no peaceful resolution.

So the government is freeing us from our illusions about it? Does this make sense to you? You might want to choose a different word.

What you are stating is a fact. A factual statement. The absolute truth. Where is the question?
By the way, if it isn't clear enough - we're both (US & UK) being brainwashed by our government because they are in cahoots with each other. They've made some pact with each other - I'll scratch your back/balls if you'll scratch mine...... question everything!

So what else is new, but the country as a whole, by the people and for the people is doing just fine. Without British rule I might add.
