he wants $500.00 from me. do i have to pay the money,,can i agree to pay him alittle at a time,,what legal action can.t i take to get my items back,,i have the keys to get in ,but i don't want him to call the police if i go in the basement

You should call the police. Explain the situation and have them escort you when you collect your things. Then let him try and sue you for the cash.

You might want to call a lawyer but for the small dollar figure involved it might end up being an unneeded expense. Try and consult a free legal aid service. Many law schools have clinics, also check out neighborhood legal services or call the state bar to get a referral. Good luck.

Did you ever say you would pay him? Did he ever tell you how much he was going to charge you. Then again it depends on how long you kept the stuff in his basement. I think if it was in there for a short period of time, and money was never discussed you should be able to get it back. Call the cops. And if that doesn't work...take his *** to Judge Judy.lol. She'll make him give it back

Call the cops and tell them what this turd is doing.
They'll show up and you can get your stuff when they're there.
He can't charge you a dime unless you've signed a written agreement.
