My niece is breastfeeding laying down, due to being tierd. I was under the impression it was not only dangerous but bad for the babie's digestion. Any feedback?

No...the baby can lay next to the mother, the mother can lay on her side, and breast-feed. She will have to switch sides once, and she must also prop the baby up to allow it to burp if needed. She needs a helper, her husband or a friend, to bring a clean moist washcloth for clean up afterwards, a towel to dry it.

If she seems to be in bed a LOT...she may have post-partum depression...find out please and arrange for a visit at the doctor's office if need be, you babysit meanwhile, OK?

I did this when my son was a baby and he's 24 now. I'd lie on my side and tilt back and he could nurse and I could doze. Hold him to my chest, roll over and do it all again. When he was done, I'd pop him back into the bassinett until the next time. It was much easier than nursing my twins!! I had to be awake for that and I'd get such a crick in my neck.
