Does anyone know anything about this antibiotic? It was perscribed to me for my infections, but I feel it's hurting more than helping.

I looked around online and not too sure but I think it's why I'm having these sharp stomach aches, sometimes. I forgot to take it a few times and never had the pains. Then after I took it I could feel them, again.

I'm a fairly small sized guy, 5'6" 125lbs-ish. The pills are 500mg and I'm supposed to take one every 8 hours. Think maybe it's too strong for my body?

Okay, I'm no doctor, I can tell you some stuff I know, but you definitely need to consult the doctor who prescribed it to you. Cephalexin is a powerful antibiotic, and it has been prescribed to me for various infections, along with Bactrim and Zithromax, because I am allergic to Pennicillin, Ampicillin, and all cillins plus Erythomomycin. Erythomycin causes me violent stomach cramps, like the ones you described from taking Ceph, even though I took the medication with food as instructed.

Talk to your doctor as soon as possible about it so you can begin taking a different antibiotic. Antibiotics must be kept at a constant and even level in your body or they will do you no good. When you forget to take one dose, you just take it as soon as remembered and proceed as if it were the beginning of your treatment, NEVER double up. Even when symptoms from your infection seem to diminish before you have finished your medicine, continue until it is all gone, or you risk relapse and may have to begin the process all over again.

Good luck, Much health, and Life for your crops.

well I don't argee with some answers above.I use this antibiotic for many years(I mean I just use it when I got a fever or very strong bad cold,or something else.)I have used Cephalexin when I was just a very little child and it helps.Cephalexin can killed the germ which is harm to u.Maybe u feel worry because u r not very well kown about this kind of medicine but it's ok ,generally speaking, antibioic won't be harm to human body, and u have mentioned the dosage,I think it is ok,if u r an adult i think this will not harm u but I still suggest u to ask a doctor

Cephalexin is often prescribed to those who cannot intake penicillin, which is the greatest discovery for mankind, but cephalexin is a weaker form a antibiotic. Usually when given this drug you may take almost twice as much has one given penicillin. No worries you will be OK, just follow your doctor's orders

Cephalexin is a cephalosporin-type antibiotic prescribed to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections, such as skin infections, genitourinary tract infections, bone infections, and respiratory tract infections. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria in your body. This medicine may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Call your doctor and he will prescribe you something else. My stomach hurt on Cephalexin and I switched to amoxicillin and I felt much better.

When antibiotics are prescribed, they are to be taken as directed or the doctor is to be called.
