I just got a lightscribe today, and I'd like to test it out, but I don't wanna use a real lightscribe DVD with it yet, cuz I just wanna see how the picture will turn out. Can I use a normal DVD or CD with it?

speed, you just contradicted your self. you basically just said, "You can use them, but you can't".

If you mean can you use a normal DVD to burn a Lightscribe image on it, the answer is no. The reason is that Lightscribe DVDs have a different surface to them so that the image can be etched into it, I don't want to know what it would do to a normal DVD and I don't think it would be a wise decision to find out.

A "Lightscribe" burner means it is capable of burning a LABEL on a DVD\CD.

HOWEVER, The blank CD\DVD disc MUST be "Lightscribe" capable to burn a LABEL.

You can burn data to "stantard" CD\DVD discs.

BTW, they DO make CD\DVD blank discs that you can PRINT labels on with a special CD|DVD LABEL Printer.

Sorry, no. Light scribe burners require DVDs special made for that process. I have seen the results and I would rather use my Label maker, as Light scribe only burns in a monotone anyway.
