One step at a time.....

Okay, seriously. Start at the top of the stairs and secure your carpet to the top step. Now pull carpet tight down vertical surface of step and attach. Pull carpet taunt again and secure to front of next step. Repeat until all steps are covered. This applies to the landing. , but I would cut carpet at bottom of the step above it and attach as you would to any floor in the house, then continue to the top step from the landing to the lower floor.

pre cut you carpet landing size plus 24 feet for the stairs .roll up carpet lay on landing unroll and fix as you come down step by step
24 feet is slightly more than you need if you steps are 9" x 7"

YOU CAN PURCHASE PRINTED STAIR RUNNER BY THE FOOT AND PLACE A BRASS ROD AGAINST THE VERTICAL AT EACH STEP BACK BY USING BRACKETS.... THEY ARE AVAILABLE AT ALL CARPET CENTERS AT OLLIES OUTLETS AND HOME DEPOTS... IF YOU MEAN BY USING REGULAR CARPETING YOU NEED TO INSTALL TACK STRIPPING AND RENT THE TACKING STRIP TOOL TO STRETCH AND SECURE IT.... ALSO NEED A CARPENTERS STAPLE FOR HERE AND THERE .... THE STRIP TOOL IS RENTABLE AT HOME DEPOT AND ALSO RENT CENTERS.
