Most docs will tell you that you should wait at least a week before giving a new food, that way if baby is allergic you will know what it is and can prevent future reactions. Also you shoud wait to introduce shell fish of any kind until at least three, the same with honey and nuts since these foods are the most likely to cause an allergic reaction.

I always waited about 5 days between new foods. I also always introduced new foods in the morning so as not to be surprised by a baby who had a reaction overnight and couldn't sleep.

Hey YumYum,
I waited a week before giving my twin girls a new food. By the time they got used to the taste and became bored with it, it was time to try a new food! I would go with 5-7 days just to make sure your little one does not have an allergy to the food.

I try to wait about 3 days or so in between new foods. But honestly, now that the baby wants to try everything we are eating, I have to say sometimes it is only 1-2 days.

I used to do Saturday to Saturday so that Dad could watch her try a new food. I read that it takes 4 days for an allergy to surface. 3 days is too short and anything after 4 is not really necessary.

I'm a mom of 2 boys and I usually waited about 3 days. If some allergy thing was going to happen, I think it would do something by then.

I can't remember waiting any time at all. I used to buy a whole range of foods so he wouldn't get bored. We never had any problems at all.
I have to say, I went for organic wherever possible. I strongly believe it is the addatives that cause the problem.

With cereal, I tried one cereal for a full week before moving to the next one. With jarred foods, I tried three days then moved to the next one.
