No one, not even Summit racing has been able to come up with a practical solution. the closest i've come is to custom fit a belt, bypassing the a/c compressor.

say I found out how long the belt is, now how do i route it? I can't seem to find a path. it's a serpentine belt so it can only go one way. there has got to be someone who has done this before. to anyone interested in performance, a/c is useless.

first of all the clutch assembly on the a/c unit is smoked. as a matter of fact it seized yesterday. furthermore, the pulley configuration on a '99 cherokee w/ac is different from one w/o. thanks for trying "mr. fixit", but no thanks. as for the rest of you i did figure out how to route my belt the only problem is that the only possible path reverses the belt driven fan. so i removed the fan, reversed the blades and it seems like it is working fine. thanks for all your help.

You do realize your compressor doesn't run all the time, now if the clutch is seized look for a manual for same vehicle W/O A/C. this will show the routing and what pulley may be missing or need to be moved. the front of the engine will accept the change without custom work. Yes they do make them without A/C

You've got it. Remove the a/c compressor and get a tape measure from one of the fabric stores. Find a patient auto parts counter person to match you up with a belt. Get the A/C discharged at a mechanic. Liquid refrigerant is no fun when it gets in your face.

that works and unplug the power wire from it.
