I have not had a history class for many years; I am just curious...

There is nothing wrong with being very old. In fact, it must mean that this very old person has taken good care of himself to live for so long, and that's very wise!

Probably, for someone who has been teaching for 30 years now, they probably lived through the Vietnam War, just like we lived through 9/11. Those of us that are teaching in 30 years will probably teach about 9/11. Just think...those of us who are history teachers now(me), will be able to say what president was alive when we were born and everyone will say we're old. Or I remember when the Challenger explosion happened, or when Clinton was impeached, or the Iraq war and the first desert storm. You get it.

Of course. Some have even been in Vietnam and Korea as well as Desert Storm. They remember the Cuban Missile Crisis, Kennedy's Assassination, Nixon, Ford, Carter and even the Moon landing.

I wouldn't consider to myself to be OLD. I am mature; mature enough not to insult people from whom I would like to elicit an answer to my questioning. No one is that old; and no I don't unless it's modern history and I remember something personal regarding the event. Personal experiences are teaching moments in themselves.
