As a whole, I think our generation (Generation X) is the beginning of the end. We have lost respect for those who came before us (our parents, gradparents, etc.) and most importantly, we have lost respect for ourselves. I think we need to take a look at our actions and realize that we are killing ourselves. For example, AIDS. A contagious, yet controllable disease! If we just take the time out and protect ourselves before making a potentially life changing decision like having sex, the number of people infected, per year, could drastically decrease.

And to some of my African American brothers and sisters, I think its time to make a few changes. Do you understand what the civil rights movement meant for us? Essentially (not totally), it evened out the playing field. We are not taking advantage of what was given to us. Our ancestors died trying to give us a better life and we are taking these opportunities to better ourselves for granted.

Instead of putting the blame on everyone, we should take initiative and better ourselves. By taking our frustration out on other races, we are only making the situation worse. Please, I would love everyones input on any of the situations I mentioned above.

abcbvdg24, I totally agree with you. Parents are huge influences on their children. When there is no supervision by the parents, only God knows what their children will become.

I agree, we are going through dark times as a society. But I do think there is hope, one of which is to find strength in the numbers of like-minded, spiritual, forward-thinking people. Take heart, and don't give up 1/2 hour before the miracle, as they say. The best is yet to come. These cliches might be old and trite, but I firmly believe that we're going through a growth period, one where all the pus of society has to come to the surface (and is it ever!), so that we can be free and healthier than ever before. Hope we'll still have our environment to sustain us.

It's a shame that nothing like what you just typed barely to never makes it out to the stations and websites that most young children and teens visit. I highly approve your message.
