I don't want her to take a liking to me (but I think I'm too late), and if she tries to kiss me, I could just lift my arm to scare her off...
I feel obligated to go because she puts up with me quite nicely, and she is a good cook too!

For Cherry Blossom: Ha ha...she must be very nice to put up with me! :) I don't think I'll admit so much to liking her attention she pays me, but only because she does it too much for nothing I deserve it for! It's all too much! She is a very nice girl though, but I think that she likes me too much...
She always talks to me and invites me to many things, but I cannot always attend. She is very nice though...just tries too hard maybe, but like I say, she is generally nice as most people are. :)
I wouldn't say I have a crush on her really, but I consider her a nice friend...she's just a bit odd towards me! I suppose that's fine she takes the initiative to speak with me because if no girls did that, I'd have never had a girlfriend until the university! I was too shy until that!
I have always been taken aback by how liberal North American women are to get a date though! I suppose this is an example of it! Russian women will ask too, but not so persistently!

For Cherry Blossom: (There was not enough room to write it all above!)
For example, I had a Canadian girlfriends and dates before, and even when I went somewhere with my date or girlfriend, other women would "flirt" with me and such sometimes. It offended me very deeply. I had never had that happen to me before. It must just be a cultural difference, but I was very offended and would then try to make it obvious that I was already with someone. I was very offended whenever it happened though!
So, maybe the neighbor girl is just following the normal Canadian "crushing" procedure, but even so, as you say, women do weird things "crushing." (That's a new word for me! :) I had really never heard it! Thank you for it!)
Well, I suppose that's it. I knew that this would not all fit for the part where I choose you as best answer; so, I thought ahead and did this! :)

Well, think about it. You both have something very in common. You have both been putting up with each others idiosyncrasies. Also, if you are honest with yourself "at all" you will admit that you like the attentions she pays you, as odd as they are. :-) The reason this is evident is because you talk about her a lot on Yahoo Q&A. If there is at least one thing you really like about her other than her cooking then you should accept the invitation.....and be sure to wear deodorant. The reason being more good may become of this in the long run than what you may believe now. ;-) Actually, despite what other people may have said about her on this site, I think she is probably a nice person and her oddities are just simple eccentricness; and you are eccentric too....so there. She just simply has a crush on you....that's all, and there's nothing wrong with that. Women do unusual things when they are "crushing." Also, timberleigh's advice is very good and she is right. However, only if you are "absolutely sure" that you have no romantic feelings for her whatsoever; though I sense otherwise.

Not a bad idea... but it might not work. Once she starts liking you, she might let you get away with quite a bit more than a smelly pit before she decides you're not the one for her. Better idea, if she tries to kiss you, pull back and kindly explain that you think she's a good friend but you don't think there's more to your relationship.

I would suggest you take a short course in Honesty 101 and Introduction to Assertiveness.
Nevertheless, if the fundamental decency of honesty communication is too challenging for you, don't spare words (or deodorant). Simply **** on her floor.

id say if shes a good cook and puts up with you go shower right now. why would you want to run her off? if its because youve got a girlfriend dont go at all, she wouldnt like that knowing that this girl might like you.

Be staright up with her about you not wanting to be romantic with her. Not doing so and accepting her dinner offers and so forth is just leading her on.
